Poll workers needed for the May 22, 2018 Primary Election

Democrat volunteer poll workers are needed for the upcoming Adair County election May 22, 2018. We need folks willing to work the polls or as alternates to fill in if someone has an emergency that day. Training class is May 10, 2018 at 5pmCT in the basement of the Courthouse Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY.

Pay is $100 for the day and $15 for training class.

Taylor County Grand Jury returns indictments Tue 27 Mar 2018

Indictments brought against 27 individuals from Campbellsville, Greensburg, Liberty, Hopkinsville, Raywick, and Willisburg, KY and White House, TN, on charges including assault, theft, burglary, possession, DUI, trafficking, cultivation of marijuana, tampering physical evidence, wanton endangerment, and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

The Taylor County, KY Circuit Court grand jury, Campbellsville, KY, returned indictments against the following individuals on Tuesday, 27 March 2018:

Campbellsville University to host Inaugural Brass Festival

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University will host an Inaugural Brass Festival on Saturday, April 7, 2018 in the Gosser Fine Arts Center, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, KY from 9amET to 4pmET.

Brass students from across Kentucky will have the opportunity to experience live brass performances and participate in brass master classes given by the Campbellsville University faculty and students, according to the Campbellsville University School of Music.

FRANKFORT, KY (Thu 29 Mar 2018) - Kentuckian and World War II U.S. Army veteran First Lieutenant Garlin Murl Conner, of Clinton County, KY, will be posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. The announcement comes today from President Donald Trump, who will host 1st Lt. Conner's widow, Pauline Conner, at a White House ceremony.

First Lieutenant Conner had previously received four Silver Stars, one Bronze Star, three Purple Hearts, and the EAME Campaign Medal with 7 Bronze Stars for his bravery in the European and Mediterranean theaters from 1943-1945.

Larry Tweedy, 47, Adair County, KY (d. Thu 29 Mar 2018)

He attended the Egypt Christian Church and worked for Allen's Pest Control in Campbellsville for several years. Larry enjoyed fishing and the outdoors and playing with his dog. His wife, Starr Patton Tweedy, survives. His final resting place will be in the Bardin Cemetery in Adair County, KY.

Easter schedule for Columbia Baptist Church - 1 Apr 2018

KYDFW Commission proposes new deer, waterfowl and migratory bird changes

Proposed changes include a change from Zone 3 to Zone 2 for Adair, Casey, Metcalfe, and Taylor Counties for deer hunting.

Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission has recommended expanding modern gun season for deer to 16 days statewide, increasing the number of deer allowed on a statewide permit from two to four, and increasing some license and permit fees for non-residents.

The proposals were among multiple recommendations to deer, waterfowl and migratory bird seasons made by commission members at their March 23 meeting in Frankfort.

The commission recommends hunting, fishing and boating regulations for approval by the Kentucky General Assembly. Legislators must approve all recommendations before they become law.

COLUMBIA, KY (Thu 29 Mar 2018. 07:41:34) Kentucky State Police are currently on the scene of the injury collision on the Cumberland Parkway at the Adair County, Metcalfe County Line involving two semi-trucks.

Art by Pelston, Gilliam and Shepherd to travel with VSA

This year, Mrs. Garmon's class at ACES has once again wowed the judges of the annual VSA Traveling Art Exhibit with three entries from three students making the cut!

The VSA Kentucky Student Traveling Art Exhibit, "A Matter of Perspective" is an annual exhibit comprised of original artwork created by students from across Kentucky. This art exhibit is available to schools, museums, businesses, libraries, and hospitals across the Commonwealth each year. Students from around the state compete every year to have their art works chosen to travel with VSA.

We are so proud of Aiden Pelston, Destiny Gilliam, and Will Shepherd for being so dedicated to their work and showing off their amazing artistic talents!

BOWLING GREEN, KY (Thu 29 Mar 2018 at 7:08amCT) -- The Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway has the eastbound direction completely blocked in Metcalfe County near the 33 mile marker due to a crash involving multiple semi-trucks.

The westbound direction is expected to be closed at any time. The estimated time of the closure is four to six hours. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 crews are on scene. Please seek an alternate route.

My mother has trouble keeping up with her bottom partial (teeth). We have gone through several incidents of her leaving them or misplacing them. One time on our way to Louisville to stay for a week, she realized she had left them at home, so Guy sent them overnight to my aunt's house. Imagine how much he enjoyed that chore!
