Obituary: Delphus (Jummy) Bardin, 79, Adair Co., KY

Mr. Bardin was the head of a large, highly regarded famiy. He was a long distance truck driver most of his adult life, and he was greatly admired for his indefatiguable fortitude. He was a member of the Columbia Christian Church, Columbia Lodge No. 96 and the Order of the Eastern Star No. 435. His wit and friendly manner endeared him to everyone he met.

Delphus "Jummy" Bardin, age 79 years, of 313 Young Street, Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 1:27pmCT, at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY after an illness.

The funeral service is Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Jamie Bryant and Bro. Hugh Withers the officiating clergy. Obituary: Phillip O. Keltner, 83, Adair County, KY

Mr. Keltner was teacher in the Adair County School system for 30 years. He a was a founding member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, past post commander of VFW Post 6097, which will present full military honors at his burial.

Obituary: Bro. Hershey Giles, 71, Adair Co., KY

Bro. Giles was a beloved Adair County minister who had served Separate Baptist congregations in South Central Kentucky. He had worked also at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and at the time of his death was an employee of the Adair Recycling Center. He was a member of Caldwell Ridge Separate Baptist Church and will be buried in the adjacent cemetery. Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton has ordered the lowering of flags at county installations to half staff due to his death. A number of County offices will be closed at the hour of his funeral.
