Virginia Lucas, 91, of Russell Springs, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in Somerset.

Funeral services will be at 1pmCT Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Cedar Springs United Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Roy & Bro. Bobby Oakes. Visitaton 11am to 1pm at the church. Interment will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset.

Pallbearers: James A. Gosser, David Massey, Jonathan Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Thomas Andrew Canada, Chrisopher Andrew Canada, Thomas M. Canada and Martin Thomas. Special Music by Lyle Rexroat.

Bread Man unable to be at FM2, prayers requested

The Farmers Market Bread Man, Paul Sullivan, reported to Columbia Magazine that while getting ready for church Sunday he accidentally broke his left femur and will have to be absent from his FM2 booth tomorrow, May 18, 2019.

He said he welcomes prayers and will be back as soon as possible. We send him our best wishes for quick healing!

Warren County's growth outpaces all Kentucky counties

New statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau provide more evidence that Warren County is pulling away from the field in terms of growth among Kentucky counties. Warren County's population grew by 2,269 people from July 1, 2017, to July 1, 2018, meaning it gained more new residents in that year than any of the state's other 119 counties, census figures show.

Hardin County was second, adding 2,130 new residents, and Fayette County was third with a growth of 1,587. Jefferson County, the state's largest county, added only 140 people over the 12 months.

KTC announces $22K for flood repairs in Russell Co

Somerset, KY - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has announced that $22,182 in County Road Aid emergency funds will be used for flood repairs on Little Indian Drive, Logan Antle Road and Riverview Drive in Russell County.

"The Bevin administration is committed to the Cabinet's mission of providing a safe, reliable transportation network for all Kentuckians," said KYTC Secretary Greg Thomas. "These emergency funds will help repair and restore damaged infrastructure throughout this community."

The Russell County Fiscal Court is responsible for administering the work.

Smoke on the Mountain at HGR, Sat 25 May

Update: The Saturday, May 25, 2019 performance at Homeplace on Green River has been cancelled.

They are back. The stage at the show barn at Homeplace on Green River will come alive again on Saturday, May 25, 2019, with the return of the Sanders family in Smoke on the Mountain. Y'all come out to look in on them and Pastor Oglethorpe as they replay their lively Gospel music in the sanctuary of the Mount Pleasant, North Carolina Baptist Church on that Saturday night in June 1938.

The dinner will be served beginning at 5pmCT/6pmET and the show begins at 6pmCT/7pmET. Space is limited so make your reservations early by calling or e-mailing Phil Hanna at (270) 384-2894 or cphanna51@msn.com. Tickets for Smoke on the Mountain are $20 for the show and fish dinner or $10 for just the show.

Against all odds we located our wandering little Linus and he is back in his new home. Now for a micro-chip, a set of doggie tags, and a wireless fence! Thanks to everyone who shared my Facebook post and kept a keen eye on the horizon. William (Billy) Bottom, 87, Russell Co., KY native (1932-2019)

Billy was a Veteran of US Navy and a member of Highlands Baptist Church in Lexington.

William "Billy" Bottom of Lexington, Ky (formerly of Russell County) died Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington. He was 87 years old.

The funeral service for William "Billy" Bottom will be at 1pmCT on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Michael Erp and Bro. Jim Combest officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.

Visitation is requested from 10amCT until 1pmCT on Saturday.

Bolton fires 1-over par round; Up 8 spots at NAIA Championship

Oklahoma City, OK - Dacie Bolton shot a 1-over par 73 during the third round of competition at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship Tournament on Thursday at the Lincoln Park Golf Club. Bolton has tallied a 224 (77-74-73) through the first three round of the championship.

She dropped to 8-over for the tournament and sits in a tie for 23rd place heading into the final round of play on Friday. Bolton was able to move up the leaderboard eight spots after firing her lowest round of the tournament and trails tournament leader Michela Tjan from Keiser (Fla.) by 10 strokes.

Baccalaureate Service for ACHS Class of 2019

A Baccalaureate Service for the 2019 Graduating Seniors of Adair County High School will be held this Sunday evening, May 19, at 6pmCT at the Columbia Baptist Church, 201 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.

Graduates are asked to arrive by 5:30pmCT with cap and gown. There will be a procession to start the service.

Everyone is invited to thank God for His goodness to the class of 2019.

It's currently 64F at the Adair County Mesonet station. It will be mostly sunny today, with a high near 85F. West wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 64F. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable.

Saturday will bring a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pmCT. Otherwise it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 86F and light south wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Saturday Night should remain mostly clear, with an overnight low around 64F.
