KDA Will Take Your Exhibits to the State Fair

By Sean Southard

Frankfort, KY - - Want to exhibit at the Kentucky State Fair but can't make the trip? For the second year in a row, the state fair, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and the University of Kentucky (UK) Cooperative Extension Service will transport your best preserves, crafts, honey, vegetables, and other exhibits to Louisville from five locations across the Commonwealth, including the Taylor County Extension Office in Campbellsville.

"Getting to the state fair is a challenge for many Kentuckians who live far from Louisville or who have transportation issues," Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles said. "This service will enable many people to participate in their state fair where they otherwise might not be able to. We are pleased to once again work with our partners at UK and the Kentucky State Fair to provide this service."

To participate in the drop-off service, exhibitors must mail a general entry form or enter online at kystatefair.org/participate/compete to the Kentucky State Fair by July 1 with the fee of $15 per exhibitor. Mailed and online entry forms submitted from July 2 to July 10 will be charged a late fee, making the cost $20 per exhibitor. Exhibitors then need to contact a drop-off site between July 10 and 29 to participate in the service.

Exhibits must be delivered to a drop-off location from July 29 to Aug. 6 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. local time. KDA employees are scheduled to deliver the exhibits to the Kentucky Exposition Center by Aug. 9.

The drop-off locations are:
  • the Christian County Extension Office in Hopkinsville;
  • the Laurel County Extension Office in London;
  • the McCracken County Extension Office in Paducah;
  • the Montgomery County Extension Office in Mt. Sterling; and
  • the Taylor County Extension Office in Campbellsville.
The program does not include 4-H and FFA exhibits. Members must go through those organizations to exhibit.

For more information, including a drop-off entry form, packing and labeling instructions for return of exhibited items, and a list of exhibits that may and may not be shipped under the program, go to kyagr.com/marketing/show-and-fair.html. For further questions about the program, contact the KDA's Michelle Hansford at michelle.hansford@ky.gov or (502) 782-4136.
