FRANKFORT, KY. (Mon 16 Jul 2018) - Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Office of Special Prosecutions today announced a Clinton County man has been sentenced to serve five years for wanton endangerment, criminal mischief and terroristic threatening.

Jim Garnett Burris, 90, Taylor County, KY (1928-2018)

June 15, 1928 ~ July 16, 2018 (Age 90)
Mr. Burris had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Bible Baptist Tabernacle. He was a heavy equipment operator, and the owner/operator of Garnett Burris Excavating. A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country honorably during the Korean War. He loved his family and friends, and spent as much time as possible with them. He was the son of the late Willie & Pearl Downey Burris. His wife, Donna Hamilton Burris, survives. He leaves 10 direct living descendants.

He was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Christ Tabernacle Church. He was a native of Barren County, KY, and a resident of Casey County, KY, at the time of his death. His wife of 24 years, Teresa Caudill Lemons, survives. He leaves. 12 direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in the McFarland Cemetery.

He was a retired employee of G.E. Appliance Park. He was born in Russell County, KY, and was a resident of Oldham County, KY, at the time of his death there. He a member of a large, respected Russell County, KY, family. He was the son of the late Obert & Mary E. Foley Wade. His wife, Patricia Ann Wade, survives. He leaves 10 direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in his native Russell County, KY

Coy Bennett, 76, Adair County, KY (1941-2018)

August 1, 1941 ~ July 16, 2018 (Age 76)
He was a former farmer and mechanic. He was born in Adair County, KY, the son of the late Riley Thomas & Leoner Blades Bennett. With his passing five of the ten siblings of the children born to Riley & Leoner Bennett survive. He was the widower of Carol Sue England Bennett, and the patriarch of a large, respected and steadfast SW Adair County family. He leaves eight direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in Leatherwood Cemetery in the community of Nell, Adair County, KY.

19-year-old Edmonton, KY man faces meth, other charges

Allegations a result of attempt to execute arrest warrant by Troopers of KSP Post 15, at a residence on Billy Sparks Road, Edmonton, KY on Friday, July 13, 2018. Consent to search the residence was given resulting in a marijuana grinder, small plastic bags containing a crystal like substance, straws and glass smoke pipes being located. Resident arrested and lodge in Barren County Detention Center, Glasgow, KY.

Columbia, KY, man found guilty of arson & insurance fraud

A Columbia, KY man was convicted Thursday, July 12, 2018, in Federal Court of arson and insurance fraud in case involving a fire on June 30, 2011, in Adair County. He is scheduled for sentencing in Bowling Green on October 21, 2018, at 9amCT by United States District Court Judge Greg Stivers. His girlfriend and co-defendant, who remains free on bond, has already pled guilty to charges in the case and is scheduled to be sentenced in Bowling Green on July 31, 2018 at 10:15amCT. While fighting the fire, Volunteer Fireman Charles Sparks suffered a heart attack on the second floor of the home. He was rushed to the hospital and died eight days later on July 8, 2011. In addition to his service as a volunteer firefighter, Sparks was a longtime Kentucky State Fire Marshal. Assistant United States Attorneys David Weiser and Nute Bonner are prosecuting the case. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Kentucky State Police conducted the investigation.

BOWLING GREEN, KY - (Fri 13 Jul 2018) - A jury convicted a Columbia, Kentucky man yesterday following a five-day jury trial in United States District Court on charges of arson and insurance fraud, announced United States Attorney Russell M. Coleman. The defendant set the fire, which destroyed his home, in order to collect on a $50,000 rental insurance policy.

Green County Grand Jury returns indictments Wed 11 Jul 2018

Indictments brought against 21 individuals from Greensburg and Campbellsville, KY, on charges including possession, trafficking, burglary, DUI, and failure to comply with sex offender registatration.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Bro. Randall McPherson, preacher of the Gospel for 60 years, dies

April 1, 1928 - July 14, 2018 (Age 90)
A great Christian servant, he preached in three states and Canada, help plant three churches, and had avocations as a sign painter, carpenter, realtor and auctioneer. He was a native of Tompkinsville, Monroe County, KY, and, at the time of his death, a resident of Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY. His final resting place will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery.. He was the son of the late Jack & Velma (Froedge) McPherson. His wife of almost 71 years, Beatrice Brown McPherson, survives. He leaves a total of 15 direct- and step- living descendants.

One injured when vehicle strikes tree on Oak Grove Road

REPORT 3: Busy weekend for Adair County Sheriff's Department, Sat-Sun 14-15 Jul 2018
Adair County Sheriff's Office's (ACSO) preliminry investigation indicates 37 year old driver lost control of vehicle and struck a tree on Oak Grove Road head-on. Driver transported to TJ Health/Columbia, KY, where he was treated and released, then arrested on multiple allegations. ACSO Deputies Joey Keith and Derek Padgett were assisted on the scene by Adair County Emergency Medical Services.

ACSO Deputy Joey Keith was assisted on the scene by the Breeding Fire Departmentt, Adair County EMS, and SGT Jamie Richard with the Kentucky State Police.
