Abuse of handicapped parking is becoming a big problem

Peggy (full name on file) writes:

It is becoming a big problem. Yesterday at Walmart a SUV pulled into the last Handicapped Parking on the grocery side. The problem is , it was a group of kids with not one handicapped among them. They had no tag or hanger. But the worst part a cop rode right by them and did nothing. The handicapped parking are for the handicapped. The ones that need them. If the police don't enforce this , why will anyone listen and obey the laws. I just think this needs attention brought to it. Thank You. - Peggy

Birds of Kentucky: Bird on a tire

2018-03-03 - Russell County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Bird on a tire was the name of this movie, instead of Bird on a Wire, the one staring Goldie Hawn. The little brown bird perched atop a pickup truck tire, waited and watched until the coast was clear, then swooped down to partake of the bread someone had tossed into the parking lot. - LW

Dakota Meyer joins Grimes in support of medical cannabis in KY

By Bradford Queen

Frankfort, KY - Sgt. Dakota Meyer on Friday announced he is joining Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes in supporting medical cannabis legalization in Kentucky. He endorsed House Bill 166.

Meyer released the following statement:
Medical cannabis works. I've seen firsthand lives it has positively impacted. I've seen how quality of life is vastly improved when a veteran struggling with PTSD can use medical cannabis to quiet their mind and sleep. It's time we move away from the old-school mentalities that are holding our Commonwealth back and preventing Kentuckians from getting relief. I see legalization of medical cannabis as a huge step in fighting the opioid crisis. Frankfort has to act. There are too many people - especially men and women who have served our country - who need help. I'm counting on legislators and the Governor to make medical cannabis legal in 2018.
The House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on House Bill 166 on Monday, March 5, at 2pmET. The legislation is the product of a task force Grimes assembled on the issue.

The Columbia City Police solved a baffling crime and captured the largest criminal to date on Tuesday morning about daybreak.

The culprit was a two-ton elephant that had escaped from the Clark and Walter Circus at the fairground. His crime was eating up and trampling down Marvin Downey's garden. To add insult to injury, he turned on the water, took an elephant bath, and then wallowed on the rest of the garden.
