ACHS art students dominate region competition

Adair County High School art students competed against a talented pool of artists from seven other school districts last week at the Kentucky Art Education Association (KyAEA) Caveland Region Art Show. Adair's group impressed judges across the board, taking home the most awards of any school and sending four students on to state competition.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY

Date Issued: 3/29/17, 1:50pmCT

A BOIL WATER ADVISORY is in effect for consumers of Columbia Adair Utilities District starting at 2127 Milltown Rd. down to 4350 Milltown Rd., and all side roads in between and also all of Portland Rd., Old Portland Rd., Charlie Smith Rd., Flatwoods Rd., Kemp Rd., and Bill Handy Rd.

The advisory has been issued due to main line leak.

Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure.

Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bring the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

Taylor County Grand Jury returns indictments Tue 28 Mar 2017

Indictments brought against 21 individuals from Campbellsville, Elkhorn, Greensburg, Columbia, and Carrolton, KY on charges including forgery, trafficking, possession, theft, burglary, and sexual abuse.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Mary Catherine Atkinson, 75, Taylor Co., KY (1941-2017)

She had worked as a seamstress for Fruit of the Loom for 27 years and had been an active member of Bethel AME Church. In her spare time, you would find her playing bingo, bowling, or cheering on her favorite sports team, the University of KY Wildcats. Her husband, George Atkinson, survives. She leaves 10 direct and one step living descendants.

William Conrad Claycomb, Sr., Taylor Co., KY (1924-2017)

Conrad was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was also a German prisoner of war in World War II for nine months from 1944-1945. He will be accorded full military honors by the Marion County Honor Guard at committal rites. He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a retired employee of TGT and retired after 38 years of service. He was a life-long member of Pitman Masonic Lodge #124 F & AM. He was the widower of Dorothy Sexton Claycomb, his wife of 67 years. He leaves 12 direct living descendants spanning four generations.

Ivan (Bootie) Bault, Taylor Co./Adair Co., KY native (1939-2017)

He professed faith in Christ and was a very active member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired knitting room employee at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY. He loved pitching horseshoes and helped develop the horseshoe pits at Miller Park so that tournaments could be held there. He was also a member of the KY Horseshoe Pitchers Association for many years. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports at the local parks.

Lindsey Wilson Women's Golf wins LWC Spring Fling tournament

COLUMBIA, KY - (Tue 28 Mar 2017) - The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team carded a two-day 622 (317-305) to win the LWC Spring Fling on Tuesday held at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.

All five Blue Raiders finished sixth or better at the tournament led by Kenna Richardson's second-place finish with a 154 (80-74). She cut six strokes off her opening round 80, finishing with a tournament-high five birdies.

Our son Jon lives in Austin, Texas right in the hubbub of city life. To escape, he goes to his mother-in-law's "ranch" to hunt, clear brush, or fish with his kids on weekends. His family occasionally camps along the river at the ranch, but Beth and I both like camping "city style." Jon's roots are in the outdoors.
