Adair County Primary Center students were educated on one of Kentucky's proudest traditions last month when the Kentucky Derby Museum Outreach Program visited the school. The event, which was coordinated by the Adair County Family Resource Center, used interactive games and activities to inform students on the annual race and its rich history.

Adair County High School senior Dylan Feese signed a National Letter of Intent Wednesday morning to continue his football career at Kentucky Christian University. Feese, a two-way starter on last year's 8-4 Indians squad, will play wide receiver for the Knights.

Mayor Young: Wear navy Thu 23 March 2017 for Quentin Goodin

Taylor County residents are going to see a lot of navy blue tomorrow, Thursday, March 22, 2017, if the county seat leadership has anything to do with it. The call was posted today along with a thanks to the community for helping raise funds to get his family to California for the game.

Official statement from Mayor Tony Young:
"The Mayor and City of Campbellsville would like to encourage everyone to wear navy on Thursday in support of Campbellsville's own, Quentin Goodin.

"Quentin is a freshman starter for Xavier and they will be playing in the NCAA Sweet 16 tournament Thursday at 10pmET on TBS.

Adair County Judge Michael Lee Stephens presided at the Special Meeting of the Adair Fiscal Court, Tueday, March 21, 2017, at 1pmCT. The surprise appearance came just four hours after he had said that it would likely be April before he would preside again. It was the first time since his January 26, 2017, surgery that he assumed the duties of presiding over the meetings.

At the meeting, the court addressed line item budget transfers, disbursements, and approved a Memorandum of Agreeement with the Kentucky Transportation Department for Discretionary Funds in the amount of $114,814.93.

Requirements for students entering 6th grade for 2017-18 school year can be met utilizing Healthy Kids Clinic at Adair Conty Elementary School

Reminder: All students entering the 6th grade for the 2017-18 school year are required to have a new KY school physical as well as the following immunizations: 2nd Varicella, Tdap, and Meningococcal. A 2-shot series of Hepatitis A immunization is optional at this time but will be required beginning with the 2017-18 school year.

Beulah Catherine (Judy) Stevens, 89, Hardyville, KY (1927-2017)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Burt Asbury & Velma Holly Asbury and the widow of James Mark (Jim) Stevens, her husband of 38 years.

Mrs. Beulah Catherine "Judy" Stevens of Hardyville, KY, daughter of the late Burt Asbury & Velma Holly Asbury, was born on April 2, 1927 in Green County, KY, and departed this life on Monday, March 20,2 017 at her home in Hardyville, KY. She was 89 years, 11 months, and 18 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a homemaker.

She united in marriage to James Mark "Jim" Stevens in May of 1955 who preceded her in death on August 29, 1993.

Survivors include:
  • Two brothers and a sister: Casbel Asbury, Kenny Asbury both of Hardyville, KY, and America Jubil Pace of Caverna, KY

  • Special nieces and nephews: Celia and Steve Furlong of Horse Cave, KY; Vance Butler of Hardyville, KY; and Collen and Jim Jeffries of Science Hill, KY

  • and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Mrs. Stevens was also preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers: Jeanie Russell, Coty Butler, Joyce Jolly, Ruel Asbury, Lendon Asbury, and Joe Asbury.

COLUMBIA, KY - (Tue 21 Mar 2017) - Lindsey Wilson junior Kayla Styles has been named to the 2017 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship All-Tournament Second Team, national officials announced after the conclusion of the national title game.

In her three games at the national tournament, Styles averaged 23.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game, recording a double-double in all three contests. The Louisville, Kentucky native shot 48.8 percent from the floor and made 29-of-31 free throw attempts (93.5 percent). She also recorded five offensive rebounds per game, 7.7 defensive rebounds per game and 2.3 blocks per game, ranking near the top of the field in each statistical category.

2-year-old Russell Co. child dies after being struck by vehicle

A two year old child was pronounced dead at the Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, KY, Tuesday, afternoon, March 21, 2017, after being struck by a vehicle backing out of a driveway on Mann Road, near Jamestown, KY.

Details are sketchy at this time, but we will have more here and on The WAVE and The Big Dawg today, after a scheduled interview with Russell County Sheriff Clete McAninch.

COLUMBIA, KY (Tue 21 Mar 2017) - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team was defeated by Indiana Southeast 7-4 Tuesday at Egnew Park.

Connor Anderson drove in two runs for the Blue Raiders (15-13) while Jayden Jackson extended his reached base streak to 24 games. Jackson also recorded a hit extending his hitting streak to seven games which is the longest by a Lindsey Wilson player this season.
