LWC Men's Swimming adds 2nd place finish at Brenau Invite By Brady Budke Gainesville, GA - The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team notched 28 A-cuts, seven B-cuts, and five individual first place finishes en route to a second place finish at the Brenau Invite on Saturday in Gainesville, Georgia. The Blue Raiders finished in second with 785 points, falling behind Scad (Ga.) who finished in first place with 910 points. Point (GA) finished in third with 456 points, while Thomas (GA) finished in fourth with 105 points. William Thilwind added an individual first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a winning A-cut standard time of one minute and 53.10 seconds. Michael Peck finished the race in second place with a B-cut standard time of 1:58.79. Federal award focuses on families in child welfare system Grant of up to $12 million will provide behavioral health services to children By Christina Dettman/Anya Armes Weber Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) has received a four-year federal grant of up to $3 million per year to support the behavioral and social health of youth through comprehensive services and community partnerships. The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) has awarded CHFS the grant for its System of Care (SOC) with the goal to improve behavioral health outcomes for youth through age 21 who have child welfare involvement and meet certain behavioral health criteria. For this project, child welfare-involved families refers to those whose child abuse and/or neglect investigation has resulted in a substantiation or services needed finding. LWC Swimming hosts hour of power relay on Tuesday By Christopher Coombs The Lindsey Wilson men and women's swim teams will take to the Holloway Center Natatorium pool on Tuesday, joining thousands of fellow student-athletes across the nation to celebrate the 14th Annual Ted Mullin "Leave it in the Pool" Hour of Power Relay for Sarcoma Research, sponsored by the Carleton College swimming and diving teams. The Hour of Power is set to begin at 4pmCT on Tuesday, Nov. 26 in the Holloway Health and Wellness Center Natatorium. You can make a donation online at www.tedmullinfund.org. Joining the Blue Raiders at the Holloway Center Natatorium will be the Campbellsville University men and women's swim and dive team. The objective of the "Leave it in the Pool" practice is to participate in continuous relays of any stroke for one-straight hour, with the objective of keeping all relays in each lane on the same length. The band was honored for its outstanding 24th record-breaking win. Director Case said, "We are very proud of our rich heritage and I'm thankful to be able to lead this band." He said he was grateful for the support of the School Board and said, "I think Dr. Stevens is hoarse tonight because she yelled so hard for us at state."
