LWC Wrestling set to host Bellarmine on Tuesday night

The No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestling team is set to host Bellarmine (Ky.) - No. 24 NCAA DII -- at 7pmCT on Tuesday at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. The matchup marks the first dual for the Blue Raiders this season.

The Blue Raiders are returning to action after competing in the Lindenwood Open over the weekend of November 22 and 23.

Lindsey Wilson's projected lineup for the dual is Cagen Wallace, Sam Bacon, Alex Caldwell, Latrell Davis, Derrick Smallwood, Joe Koontz, Trajan Hurd, Trevor Lawson, Avery Buckman and Brandon Reed.



Out of the 10 Blue Raiders projected to wrestle in Tuesday's dual, six are ranked nationally in the NAIA. Brandon Reed is the highest-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestler, sitting at the top of the 285-pound weight class with the No.1 ranking. Latrell Davis currently ranks second in the 149-pound weight class and Derrick Smallwood is ranked second in the 157-pound weight class.

Trajan Hurd is ranked sixth in the 174-pound weight class and Trevor Lawson also holds a sixth-place ranking, in the 184-pound weight class. Cagen Wallace currently ranks 14th in the 125-pound weight class.

Bellarmine (1-0) travels to Columbia, Ky. after hosting Urbana (Ohio) in a 36-8 victory on November 21. The Knights picked up eight wins and were led by Gage Branson, Devan Hendricks, and Andy Dobben who all picked up pin victories against the Blue Knights. Bellarmine has two wrestlers ranked in the NCAA DII top-10. Brandon Lucas is ranked ninth in the 125-pound weight class and Gage Branson is ranked sixth in the 149-pound weight class.

The Blue Raiders are 2-0 all-time against the Knights. Last season's dual resulted in a 27-12 road victory for Lindsey Wilson on Dec. 6, 2018.
