Women in leadership positions in Columbia/Adair County

By Ralph Roy Waggener, publisher
Just For A Smile News

Years ago women were in charge of the home and usually had large families. My mother Audrey Chelf Waggener was one of these women who raised six of us. Now more women hold jobs and positions! There a lot of Adair families with 12 or more children in them I can recall the Jim Pyles family of 15 and the O.L. Rich family of 13 - again I think these numbers are close - may not be exact but you get the picture! Times have changed a lot; we hardly ever see large families anymore!

Now we have Gale Cowan as Adair CJE, Pam Hoots as Mayor of Columbia, and Pam Stephens as Superintendent Adair County Schools. We also have Jennifer Corbin as Adair Co. Attorney!

Letter: Can you plug in an electric car in Columbia?

Vonnie Kolbenschlag writes:
Are there places in Columbia where an electric car can recharge - plug in? I know there are "recharging boxes" that can attach to ones house and can be bought on line. My son in the Atlanta area has been driving an electric car for a couple years now. The company he worked for had stations to plug in for their workers. One of the advantages of the electric car in the Atlanta area was being able to drive in a lane for fast traffic and not be impeded by the congested traffic of non electric cars. --Vonnie

Comments re article 102632 RIDES Having to trade cars again traditional or electric

Thanks for your question about plug in stations for electric vehicles (EV) in Columbia. As of now, the closest "public" station I know of is at the KOA in Campbellsville. I use a phone app called Plugshare to locate public charging stations and, since it's crowd sourced information, a lot of actual public stations are yet to be posted. More will follow on this subject later this week. - TM
