Lyin' little groundhog, can't trust them with weather forecasting

Mary Sue announced there were six inches of snow outside her Louisville window this morning which prompted the comment, "Lyin' little groundhog. Can't trust them to tell the truth about the weather..."

I thought the chuckle over the outrageous weather could be shared. Mary is a dear one.

Art Club continues work on project, no more empty seats

Adair County High School Art Club member C.J. Bonifer made photos at the recent school safety forum as part of the club's work on the project called no more empty seats. At the School Board meeting Supt. Pamela Stephens said the administration is in support of the student project and looks forward to seeing the displays they are creating. - LW

Make up days scheduled for Campbellsville Independent Schools

Spring break is scheduled for March 30 and April 2-6, 2018. Classes will resume on Monday, April 9, 2018, and the schedule changes will begin.

Campbellsville Independent Schools' officials have made changes to the calendar for the 2017-2018 school year.

After spring break, and for the three remaining Fridays in April, students will attend class until 3pmET. School is normally dismissed at 1pmET on Fridays.

This year 2nd grade students participating in the STLP or Student Technology Leadership Program created a project that they thought could benefit our school and other districts as well. Our students picked a topic that they wanted to make a video about to present to a regional showcase. They picked "Bus Safety for Everyone".


Second grade students in the Adair County Primary Center's Student Technology Leadership Program planned, researched, scripted, recorded, and edited the video.

Trinity United Methodist will present The Living Last Supper

The Trinity United Methodist Church, 2418 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY will present "The Living Last Supper" on Sunday and Wednesday, March 25 & 28, 2018, at 6:30pmCT. In this dramatic presentation the disciples of Jesus reflect on His words that one of them will betray Him. Each will offer a brief monologue. There was a day last week when the sun shone. Daylight came softly, the air was cool, the sky pearl colored.

A pair of mourning doves sailed onto the bleached grass beyond the side porch, leaned close together as though in intimate conversation; cardinals flashed through the scrubby trees beyond the gravel drive, the sudden drumming of a woodpecker reverberated from farther up the ridge.

PSC cuts KU and LG&E bills to reflect tax changes

As a result of the revenue reduction, KU and LG&E residential electric customers will see their average monthly bills decrease by about 6 percent, while LG&E residential natural gas customers will see about a 4.5 percent reduction in the base rate portion (not including the commodity cost of gas) of their bills.

Frankfort, KY (20 Mar 2018) – The Kentucky Public Service Commission has reduced the total annual revenue of the Kentucky Utilities Co. (KU) and of Louisville Gas & Electric. Co. (LG&E) by $203.8 million to reflect the reduction in federal corporate income taxes that took effect at the first of the year.

David Jones, Adair County School District Director of Transportation, called early this morning to announce that Adair County Schools will be Closed today, due to snow on overpasses, bridges, particularly in the Breeding and Knifley areas. "With the weather predictions and with snow continuing to fall, we felt it was just best to call off school for today." .

EDA Meeting Report II - Retail Academy follow up

Chairman Mark Dykes introduced the brief follow up on the Retail Academy training in Birmingham, Alabama recently.

Three from Adair County participated in the six-hour marketing research intensive - Dykes, from the EDA; Tiffany Kessler from the City of Columbia and Andrea Waggener from Fiscal Court.

Highlights of the experience were shared at Tuesday's EDA meeting, with an open meeting being planned for later in the spring so that all businesses and services can have the opportunity to have equal access to full information about the economic picture in Columbia and Adair County.
