AG action: Garrard Co. man arrested for seeking sex with minor Cyber Crimes Unit launched undercover investigation after man posted online ad NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. By Terry Sebastian or Crystal Staley News from the office of Attorney General Andy Beshear FRANKFORT, KY. (Fri 1 Jul, 2016) - Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Cyber Crimes Unit today announced a Garrard County man has been arrested and indicted for seeking sex with a minor. Jeffrey Scott Turner, 58, of Lancaster, was arrested June 9 and charged with prohibited use of an electronic communications system to procure a minor for sex, a Class D felony. He was indicted by a Franklin County Grand Jury Tuesday, June 28. According to cyber investigators, Turner became the subject of a three-week investigation after he posted an online ad seeking a "dad for daughter" to perform sexual acts. After Turner communicated over the Internet with an undercover investigator's persona of a minor, he was located by Beshear's office and admitted he placed the initial ad and to having a conversation with a person he believed to be a minor. Turner was arrested by the Garrard County Sheriff's Office and is currently out of jail on his own recognizance. The work of the Cyber Crimes Unit, a division of the Department of Criminal Investigations in the Office of the Attorney General, is part of Beshear's core mission to keep sexual predators away from Kentucky's families and children. "The Attorney General is the chief advocate and protector for our Kentucky families, and it's our job to take those who would exploit children off the streets to ensure our communities are safe," Beshear said. "We would like to thank Garrard County Sheriff Tim Davis and his team, as well as the office of the Franklin County Commonwealth's Attorney, for helping in this case. Since taking office January 4, Beshear's Cyber Crimes Unit has arrested or convicted 25 sexual predators. 2016-07-02 02:41:02 | Comments | Printable version

Theresa Ingermann: Wonders if fireworks are legal in town? Theresa ingermann writes: I don't know if the fireworks are legal in town but when I'm sitting on my porch With my husband, which is a combat veteran, and someone down the street Sets of a big M80 without warning, that is something very tramatic to a veteran. My husband and other veterans do well with fireworks WHEN they are expecting them. Please have some consideration for our veterans in town. Thank you, - Theresa ingermannThanks for reminding us: A peaceful return home is the very least we should assure combat veterans, especially for the 4th of July. Your husband is certainly due that. The irony is that those involved in the promotion of this dangerous practice may actually think they are helping veterans. - EW 2016-07-02 01:09:54 | Comments | Printable version
