Ben Arnold asks what happened to absentee blue seal

Ben Arnold writes:
I understand the yellow seals are on the machines when they go out to the polls and the blue ones when they return. It is the blue seals we are talking about now. If the W Col blue seal was knocked off in transport, then what happened to the Absentee Voting machine seal that was also off? - Ben Arnold

Sheila Blair sends replies to several letter writers

Replies to Mitzi Bault, Betsy Fausnaugh, Mr. Halsey, and Ben Arnold letters.

By Sheila Blair

In regards to the post from Mitzi Bault and Betsy Fausnaugh, this behavior from the poll worker is unacceptable. Poll workers are instructed to obstain from these sort of actions.

My advice would be to notify the County Board of Elections if this happens again, hopefully it will not.

LOUISVILLE, KY - It's a Derby tradition going back more than three decades; dozens of children with mental and physical disabilities experienced the thrill of the game of golf during the Don Fightmaster golf outing.

For 35 years, Fightmaster, known as the Arnold Palmer of amputee golf, has been spreading the sport he loves to children with special needs, but he said those kids may not be the ones who get the most out of the event.

Ralph Waggener: I'll be sure to attend Town Meeting!

Ralph Roy Waggener writes
If we have a Town Hall Meeting that would be something I would attend for sure. We all would be able to speak I understand, not like a city council meeting where only the council and mayor has the right to speak unless you have made arrangements to have the floor and speak on your subject only.

Columbia needs to speak, Columbia needs transparency more than ever now. Yes, it’s time for us here in Columbia to speak out and ask for a lot of change in our city governments spending habits. Your Truly - Ralph Roy Waggener
Thanks. If a Town Hall meeting does happen, as suggested by Sally Kemp and which CJE Mike Stephens has endorsed and offered to moderate, it would be up to the organizers to set the rules. Your request appears reasonable. One thing: When the Citizens Comments segment occurs at City Council, one just shows up and says their piece. Not sure of the time limit. - EW

Ben Arnold responds to Sheila Blair post

Asks Question on broken seals: Is there new information here?

Ben Arnold writes:
Sheila, you have stated that you believe the seal on the W Columbia voting machine was broken off during transport after the Election. Did you see the machine without the seal when it came back? Do you still believe this is how the seal was removed? Joyce Rogers said "they sometimes just throw the seal inside the machine." If there is new information here, I will reconsider anything and everyone will welcome answers. - Ben Arnold

Marcia Shuffett comments on Dr. Arnold

Personal Commentary. Writer says it was only a reaction after citizens saw things which weren't right

Marcia Shuffett writes:
I would like to point out, unless I misunderstood, is that Dr. Arnold only reacted to the problems that may have happened in the voting process when citizens saw things that weren't right and went to him for help and not that Dr. Arnold was crying in his soup and angry that he had not won. That is two distinct and completely different senarios . . . some people seem to think that Dr. Arnold instigated this whole thing and from what I heard and understood, nothing could be farther from the truth. - Marcia Shuffett

Jon Halsey commentary: On Sheila Blair statement

'The deafening silence of the Election Board in the face of numerous pleas for comment or explanation certainly creates the suggestion that such suspicion in this instance is not an unreasonable consideration.' - JON HALSEY

Jon Halsey writes:
There are some lessons that seem to be beyond comprehension or at least, if ever learned, soon forgotten.

History, both from the deep, dark long ago as well as in our lifetimes has repeatedly shown that politicians most often get in the deepest trouble not for the deed but primarily for the subsequent attempts at cover-up.

The deafening silence of the Election Board in the face of numerous pleas for comment or explanation certainly creates the suggestion that such suspicion in this instance is not an unreasonable consideration.

Even the most inept "Spin Doctors" are capable of at least: "Pending lawsuit, can't comment" which most recognize for the deceit and subterfuge it is, but at least it's a comment.

Betsy Fausnaugh comments on poll experience

Betsy Fausnaugh writes:
I too have encountered an election worker who, if I wasn't such a bull-headed woman might have actually scared me off from voting at all! I walked up to the table to get my ballot and an older "gentleman," looked up at me. He asks my name and growls,"I suppose you are a Democrat!" I gave him my best evil eye back and told him it didn't matter what I was and was not his business! He grumbled under his breath, finally locating my name, and handed me my ballot. This could be very intimidating to a younger voter. Yet another time, I did a write in vote, and yet our polling area stats at the end of the election stated zero, write-ins! Something is definitely smelling fishy in Adair! --Betsy Fausnaugh
