Sheila Blair sends replies to several letter writers Replies to Mitzi Bault, Betsy Fausnaugh, Mr. Halsey, and Ben Arnold letters. By Sheila Blair In regards to the post from Mitzi Bault and Betsy Fausnaugh, this behavior from the poll worker is unacceptable. Poll workers are instructed to obstain from these sort of actions. My advice would be to notify the County Board of Elections if this happens again, hopefully it will not. Also, Ms. Fausnaugh in regards to your write-in vote, if your write-in vote was for someone who had officially filed as a write-in candidate, and it was voted correctly, it would have counted. Mr. Halsey, you are correct. Citizens do have the right to ask questions of elected officials. I am not aware of anything concerning the election process that is done "behind closed doors" or "out of sight". In fact, it is just the opposite. As I stated in my earlier article, visit the clerks office on election day. Also, the tabulating of the votes is ususally done in the basement of the annex. The media, candidates, and other citizens are normally in attendence, with the tabulating witnessed by everyone in the room. Mr. Arnold, I did not see the machines from the November election. I do believe it is possible the seals were broken during transport, as I have witnessed this on another occasion. Joyce's statement about the seals being put inside the machines would be done after the poll workers retreive the supplies for the day. There is another seal that they then place on the machine prior any votes being cast for the day. To my knowledge there has not been any new information obtained concerning the November election. Sincerely, Sheila Blair This story was posted on 2015-04-29 15:11:02
