A way to thank the folks who have to go out in this stuff ' . . . road crews, the utility workers, the law enforcement people, the emergency responders, the health care providers, the store workers, the news deliverers - everybody who HAD to go out into this "beautiful snow" this morning--or night.' - - Dick and Mary Knight By Mary Knight I'm baking in my kitchen, looking out the window, appreciating the beautiful snow---now that the sun is shining, and the "beautiful snow" has stopped falling. I'm so grateful that my workplace is closed today, so the pressure to drive to work in the "beautiful snow" is off for me. Victoria Pike: Kenny Buck birthday today, not mine By Victoria Pike News from Greater Bliss, KY Kenny Buck is celebrating his 13th birthday at the Browning Pike farm today. My birthday isn't until March 17 (corrected now in Birthdays - CW). He is the big red steer my mother raised on a bottle when he was a calf. They got to be such good buddies over the year she fed him that I was never allowed to sell him. He spent the night visiting in an adjoining field so all the cattle could get in the barn. Seems the new bull, Bud, who is at least half his size, wanted to have a wrestling match. I will pass the birthday wish on to his highness. I haven't ventured out yet but things are beginning to move out here around the Walmart area. Safe travels to everyone. Also, big thanks to the road crews for all their hard work. - Victoria Pike 2015-02-17 10:02:26 | Comments | Printable version
BJF - When Family, Friends were wrapped around each other Kentucky Color: Click on headline for complete column with poem, 'When Family and Friends were wrapped around each other,' and photo By Billy Joe Fudge Finally, a real, honest to goodness, Great Wooded South snow event. And I'm loving it. I am really happy for my 1996 snow shovel to be back to the task for which it was created. Sadly, to justify it's room and board during the last 15 years or so, it has been pressed into duty as a bulk mulch loader during the Spring. Looks as if it may be doing double duty in 2015 since my landscaping is due another dose of mulch.
