Rev. James D. Small, Russell County, KY (1946-2012)

He was a native of McHenry, Ohio County, KY. He had been pastor of the Bernard Ridge Church of God in the Eller Community of Russell Springs for 22 years at the time of his death. He leaves four direct living descendants

Area unemployment picture better in 4 counties, worse in 3

Jobs picture improves in Taylor, Casey, Adair and Green Counties; slightly worse in Metcalfe, Russell, and Casey Counties

For Adair County, the unemployment rate was of 7.7% was better than the state average and only slightly above the national rate of 7.%.

In the 7-county area, the comparison looks like this:
  1. Taylor Co. unemployment, 7.3% October 2012 - Down from 8.3 Yr. Ago
  2. Casey Co. unemployment, 7.5% October 2012 - Down from 8.6% Yr. Ago
  3. Adair Co. unemployment, 7.7% October 2012 - Down from 8.4% Yr. Ago
  4. Green Co. unemployment, 7.9% October 2012 - Down from 8.4% Yr. Ago
  5. Metcalfe Co. unemployment 8.2% October 2012, Up from 7.8% Yr. Ago
  6. Russell Co unemployment, 8.9% October 2012 - Up from 7.8% Yr. Ago
  7. Cumberland Co. unemployment 9.9% October 2012, Up from 9.8% Yr. Ago
The jobs picture is better, overall, in October 2012 over the year before, statewide by a full percentage point, with unemployment declining by one percent in a year to 7.8 per cent.

The Walnut Grove Road in the location of the new bridge will be closed for today, Tuesday, November 20, 2012 due to construction by the Adair County Road Department on the bridge. The road will be opened back up Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at around 11amCT.

We would like to invite everyone out tomorrow for the opening of the new bridge on Walnut Grove Road. This is a great location to take some beautiful pictures. Hope everyone can come out.

Crash in Hardin County closes 1136 Bridge over WK Parkway

Elizabethtown, KY (November 19, 2012)- A commercial vehicle crashed into the KY 1136 bridge over the Western Kentucky Parkway in Hardin County on Monday night. The impact caused damage requiring closure of the bridge. The bridge will remain closed through the morning commute as Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Crews set up signals on Tuesday to allow alternating one-way traffic to safely travel across the bridge while repairs are made. One occupant injured in two car collision near Loretto, KY

Tpr. Kevin Roberts of KSP Post 15, Columbia, KY, investigated accident, assisted by Marion County Sheriff's Department, Rescue and EMS, and Loretto Fire Department. All five occupants belted or in child safety seat. Injured passenger taken to Springview, then airlifted to UL Hospital for non-life threatening injuries

LEBANON, KY - Tpr. Kevin Roberts is investigating a collision that occurred on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 6:29pmET at the intersectioin of St. Francis Hwy and Holy Cross Road in the limits of Loretto. 50-year-old Mary Gootee of Springfield, KY was traveling south on St. Francis Hwy, operating a 2003 Dodge Neon. She made a left turn from Holy Cross Rd onto St. Francis Hwy and pulled into the path of a 2005 Ford Escape. The Escape was operated by 35-year-old Elizabeth Thompson of Bardstown. Thompson was wearing a seatbelt and her 1-year-old son Korbin Thompson was in a child safety seat and not injured.

Mary Gootee and a passenger and 57-year-old Harold Gootee were both belted and not injured. A third occupant in the Gootee vehicle, 25-year-old Augusta Gootee, of Springfield, was belted but was transported to Springview Hospital and airlifted to University Hospital in Louisville with non life threatening injuries.

Tpr. Roberts was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff's Department, Rescue and EMS and the Loretto Fire Department.
