Adair Co. High School Clubs collecting plastic bags

National Honor Society, Beta Clubs will weave strips from plastic bags into sleeping mats for homeless in Lexington, KY

By Leane Blackwelder
News from NHS/BETA Club, Adair County High School

The Adair County High School National Honor Society and BETA club are asking for your left over plastic bags!

As part of our dedication to community service, we are collecting plastic bags to cut into strips and weave into bed mats to donate to Lexington's homeless shelter.

We often times take for granted the wonderful blessing of having a warm bed to sleep in at night. So we ask that you take this opportunity to support this initiative to provide bed mats to those in need of a dry place to sleep. We don't discriminate when it comes to bags! Size, shape, color, ripped or not, plastic bags of all types are welcome. Save up your plastic bags from Walmart, the Dollar Store and local grocery stores. Drop them off at Adair County High School front office, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY, any school day during the month of October. We thank you for your participation. -Leane Blackwelder, ACHS Junior

CM Site Note: Thanks for patience getting over speed bump

Thanks to everyone's patience helping us get over another speed bump caused by extraordinary growth in CM website activity, and requests for postings. We're trying our best to post at least 80% of the requests we receive, but that's about the cap at the moment.

We are briefly suspending many email notifications today in an effort to catch up. And - we'd like your feedback on our notifications - if they are too many and add to your email fatigue, let us know.

Events posts are being handled on a need basis, with those who are relying solely or primarily on CM, are sent in CM format with little editing needed, and sent "Special to CM," being given top priority.

Requests for advertising posts are slightly behind Events postings, but we are doing our best to catch up. We'll be making extra time available for any candidates who wish to schedule advertising between now and Nov. 6, 2012. Some advertising slots are limited and will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis.

But call us if there is an emergency on news or advertising: 270-250-2730. We'll make every effort to make time for you . - ED WAGGENER
