Marion (Short) Fudge still at Rowetown, 80 years Saturday Saturday, September 15, 2007, will be the 80th birthday of a treasured Adair Countian, Marion (Short) Fudge. He was born in 1927, the son of the late Finis A. and Sarah Barnes Fudge in a wonderful little corner of Adair County called Rowetown. The little community is located off Toria Road, just south of Sparksville, north of Breeding, KY, in a beautiful area of heavily wooded hills dotted with pastures and a few row crops. He still lives and works, when he wants to, on the farm at Rowetown. His wife, Arminda Hagan Fudge, died on June 4, 1997. where the couple's family grew up. Jones & Bourland to build Road 80 bridge replacement Signs are being unveiled in Columbia detouring Kentucky E80 traffic from Columbia to Russell Springs to the Louie B. Nunn Parkway and and also detouring traffic across Green Hills Road from Ky 206 to just East of the Road Eighty replacement construction project. According to the Kentucky Transportation web site, the contract for the KY E 80 Russell Creek bridge replacement was awarded August 9, 2007 to Jones & Bourland, Inc, Prestonsburg, KY. Promotion in Iraq: It is now Captain Shane Pollard! CPT Pollard is expected home in December 2007, for a two stint at Ft. Bragg. Columbia soldier is now in third year of service in Iraq, with only two brief trips home. Hi Ed, Shane is now a Captain so please make the change on the list. He is still in Iraq. Hopefully, be back home soon February or March. This will be his 3rd year over there spending all his holidays away from his family. He has been able to come home for just two short visits. Perryville commemorations October 6-7, 2007 Chautauqua presentations, Battle reenactments major events Portrayals of two Civil War-era women, Mary Todd Lincoln and Emilie Todd Helm, will be presented during the Battle of Perryville reenactment on October 6-7, 2007 at Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site, 1825 Battlefield Road, Perryville, KY, located 62 miles north of the Adair County Courthouse, Columbia, KY. The portrayals are part of the Kentucky Humanities Council Chautauqua program, which features actors giving historically accurate presentations of characters from Kentucky history.
