Raggard named LWC Flag Football Head Coach Chris Raggard has been named the first head coach of the Lindsey Wilson women's flag football program, athletics director Willis Pooler announced on Wednesday. Lindsey Wilson kicks off its inaugural season in the spring of 2026. Raggard comes to Lindsey Wilson after leading Pace High School girls' flag football to a 70-22 record over his six seasons. "Chris was an obvious choice to lead our women's flag football program," Pooler said. "His attention to detail and his vision for our program made an immediate impact on our hiring committee. However, his passion for growing the sport of flag football while sharing the Lindsey Wilson mission with our future student-athletes was the deciding factor in Chris becoming our coach. Travel: Hohenzollern Castle in Germany By Veronica Arnold Hohenzollern Castle is a popular site to visit in Germany. Definitely worth checking out, download the app before visiting, so you can scan the rooms and listen to the audiofile about the rooms that are open. The family still owns it, so most of the castle is closed off. Around this time of year, they had a Santa and Elves, they sang Christmas carols, lights and trees decorated.... We got there there while sun was up, by the time we exited the castle, the sun had set and it was getting dark. This place reminded me a lot of the Biltmore estate, the size and scale of the castle, the remote setting. The level of opulence was similar. The Peles Palace in Romania was fancier, so this level was like that of the American Vanderbilts. Besides the fun snacks we could eat outside, the castle had cannons you could touch, the crown jewels of this family, a dungeon to go down down inside... draw bridges! James Arlis Sneed, 81, Columbia, KY (1943-2024) The family of James Arlis Sneed is sad to announce his passing on Monday, November 25, 2024. Arlis was born on April 28, 1943 to the late Cecil and Mildred Sneed in Columbia, Kentucky in Adair County. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara. A Celebration of his life will begin at NoonCT on Monday at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Interment will follow at Haven Hill Cemetery in Columbia. Leoda Curry, 75, Adair Co., KY native (1949-2024) Leoda (Cowan) Curry of Campbellsville, formerly of Columbia, died on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at her home after an illness. She was 75 years old. She was born October 25, 1949, in Adair County, to the late Walker and Doris McGaha Cowan. Leoda worked at Summit Manor Nursing Home for 43 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and was an in-home caregiver. Home Tour to be held Sunday, December 8 By Richard Swartz The First Annual Adair County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Home Tour will be held Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 1-4pmCT after a ten year hiatus. Tammy Stotts and I, along with the Adair County Chamber of Commerce, would like to invite everyone to join us. There will be five beautiful residences on the tour this year. I have always dreamt of having a home on the tour since moving to Columbia in 2008. The nostalgia of Christmas in Columbia at that time was so warm and inviting when the Adair County Womens Club hosted the event annually. Isie Adams, 89, Russell County, KY (1935-2024) Mae Isolene "Isie" Adams, of Russell Springs, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024. She was 89 years of age. Born November 21, 1935, in Liberty, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Rosie Ridner Dunham. Mae was no stranger to hard work. From working with her beloved husband Jack, on their dairy farm, to working at Russell Sportswear, and over 20 years at Fruit of the Loom, she did what was needed to raise her children. Even after leaving the sewing factory, she was a familiar face behind the counter at Adam's Bait and Tackle. Mae was a faithful member of French Valley Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family.
