Raggard named LWC Flag Football Head Coach

Chris Raggard has been named the first head coach of the Lindsey Wilson women's flag football program, athletics director Willis Pooler announced on Wednesday. Lindsey Wilson kicks off its inaugural season in the spring of 2026.

Raggard comes to Lindsey Wilson after leading Pace High School girls' flag football to a 70-22 record over his six seasons.

"Chris was an obvious choice to lead our women's flag football program," Pooler said. "His attention to detail and his vision for our program made an immediate impact on our hiring committee. However, his passion for growing the sport of flag football while sharing the Lindsey Wilson mission with our future student-athletes was the deciding factor in Chris becoming our coach.

"We are confident that he is a person of high character who is focused on providing a great experience for our student-athletes," Pooler added. "I'm excited for the future of Lindsey Wilson women's flag football under Chris' direction."

Raggard led Pace to a district and regional championship last spring. The Patriots reached the Florida 2A State Semifinals, where they lost to the eventual state champions and the tournament's top seed 12-6.

"I'm really excited for the opportunity to return to my home state of Kentucky while bringing a passion and excitement for women's flag football to Lindsey Wilson," Raggard said. "I'd like to personally thank President Bill Luckey, Dr. Dean Adams, Willis Pooler, Chris Wells, and the rest of the interview committee for believing in our vision for the program."

Raggard created the Pace girls' flag football program from scratch in 2018-19. In addition to last season, Raggard led the Patriots to the 2022 district title with an 18-3 record. In all, Pace has a pair of district championships, one region title, and a region runner-up in the six seasons of existence.

Raggard has been named the Pensacola News Journal Coach of the Year three times and was a finalist for the Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year in 2024. He has coached five student-athletes to first-team all-state honors, eight to second-team, and 12 to honorable mention.

"Flag is an exciting game that is growing throughout the country," Raggard said. "We will run a fast-paced offense and attacking defense that our fans will love.

"One of our goals is to be competitive and follow other sports here at Lindsey Wilson by winning championships," Raggard added. "However, our primary goal is to help our young women succeed in their academic pursuits to obtain a degree while playing the game they love."
