Strong team outing lifts LWC Women's Basketball over Simmons By Brady Budke The No. 15-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Simmons College of Kentucky 78-36 on Tuesday evening at Biggers Sports Center. Three Blue Raiders finished the game with double-digit points as 10 LWC players scored in the contest. Reagan Turner scored a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds as Kiara Pankins finished with 14 points and seven boards. J'Nayah Hall tallied 10 points as Haeli Howard and Jordan McDonald each finished with eight points. The Blue Raiders shot 43.1 percent from the floor as they connected on 28-of-65 attempts. The LWC defense caused the Falcons problems all night as they shot just 25.5 percent while committing 17 turnovers. The Blue Raiders recorded 10 steals on the night. KSP: Post 15 to conduct safety traffic checkpoints By Tpr. Nick Hale Kentucky State Police, Post 15 will be conducting safety traffic checkpoints in the Post 15 area, which includes Washington, Marion, Taylor, Green, Casey, Russell, Adair, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton and Cumberland. Troopers will be checking for impaired drivers, children that are not properly restrained in child safety seats and informing the public about the use of seatbelts. CHFS, KDE partner to improve student care and wellbeing By Christina Dettman/Jessica Fletcher Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) are collaborating on a framework to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of Kentucky's youth, called Kentucky CARES. Kentucky CARES is a grassroots prevention campaign aimed at addressing the risk and protective factors associated with multiple forms of youth violence in schools, homes and communities. "This platform seeks to empower students, parents and caregivers, educators and mentors to engage with youth to promote resiliency and reduce vulnerably and violence," said Adam Meier, CHFS Secretary. LWC Volleyball opens NAIA National Championship Pool Play By Grace Blomstedt Sioux City, IA - The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team begins pool play at the 2019 NAIA National Championship presented by Marriott South Sioux City Riverfront on Tuesday at the Tyson Events Center. The No. 10-ranked Blue Raiders open pool play at 11amCT on Tuesday against No. 24 Reinhardt (GA). Lindsey Wilson faces Madonna (MI) at NoonCT on Wednesday and No. 7 Eastern Oregon at NoonCT on Thursday. Following the conclusion of all pool play matches, the top two teams from each of the eight pools advance to the 16-team, single-elimination bracket scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
