Strong team outing lifts LWC Women's Basketball over Simmons By Brady Budke The No. 15-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Simmons College of Kentucky 78-36 on Tuesday evening at Biggers Sports Center. Three Blue Raiders finished the game with double-digit points as 10 LWC players scored in the contest. Reagan Turner scored a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds as Kiara Pankins finished with 14 points and seven boards. J'Nayah Hall tallied 10 points as Haeli Howard and Jordan McDonald each finished with eight points. The Blue Raiders shot 43.1 percent from the floor as they connected on 28-of-65 attempts. The LWC defense caused the Falcons problems all night as they shot just 25.5 percent while committing 17 turnovers. The Blue Raiders recorded 10 steals on the night. The Blue Raiders and the Falcons were tied 5-5 early in the game. However, the Blue Raiders completed an offensive explosion, going on a staggering 30-0 run to create comfortable space mid-way through the second quarter. Lindsey Wilson was efficient from the field in the first quarter, making 9-of-13 attempts while holding a 23-5 lead. The Blue Raiders would continue their dominance as they led 42-12 at the half. Turner led the way in the first half, shooting 5-of-10 from the field while notching 14 points and six rebounds. LWC outscored Simmons 19-9 in the third quarter before putting up 17 more points over the final ten minutes to pick up their ninth win of the season with a 78-36 victory.
