Jennifer Bennett, 42, of Campbellsville, formerly of Adair County, died Saturday, August 3, 2019 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 1pmCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Tarter's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10am prior to the service.

LWC Cycling announces 2019 schedule

The schedule for the upcoming 2019 Lindsey Wilson cycling season was released by head coach Josh Patton on Tuesday.

Five mountain bike and two track events are on the slate during the opening three months of the season, including a pair of national championship races.

The season begins on Aug. 23-24 with a track race in Rock Hill, South Carolina at Belmont Abbey (S.C.). The mountain bike portion of the schedule kicks off on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 when LWC travels to Oliver Spring, Tennessee in a race hosted by the University of Tennessee.

Governor and First Lady Host One Mind Conference

Participants in today's historic conference--"One Mind: Uniting the States for Our Children"--heard from presenters from 10 different states, including government and law enforcement officials, technology innovators, frontline fighters, victim advocates and survivors of human trafficking.

August 2019 KDFWR Traffic Safety Checkpoint locations

Kentucky Conservation Officers will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints throughout Green River Wildlife Management Area during the month of August to check motorist for compliance with motor vehicle laws including driving under the influence statutes.

Supervisory-approved traffic safety checkpoint locations for Adair and Taylor Counties:
  • Adair County: Snake Creek Road - Snake Creek Boat Ramp Green River Wildlife Management Area
  • Taylor County: Wilson Creek Road - Green River Wildlife Management Area
Conservation Officers utilize safety checkpoints in an effort to promote safety for motorists and outdoor enthusiasts using WMA's and to provide a deterrent for those who violate Kentucky Revised Statutes and Kentucky Administrative Regulations.

Back to School Bash at Calvary Temple Church

Richard Phelps as Daniel Trabue at Fort Boonesborough

Richard Phelps will Be presenting The Life And Times of Daniel Trabue Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 1pmCT/2pmET at Fort Boonesborough State Park, 4375 Boonesboro Rd, Richmond, KY.

The performance will take place in the blockhouse. Cool History on Hot Days is held each Saturday in July and August about early Kentucky history.

Phelps' stories as Trabue will include his first trip to Kentucky in 1778, Boonesboro, Fort Logan, Revolutionary War service, locating his family in Fayette County and later to Green County, Settling Columbia, and the murder of his son by the bloody Harps, plus many other exciting stories about Columbia founder Daniel Trabue.

Apply for Mentor-Youth Dove Hunts Beginning Today

Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife

Frankfort, KY - Free registration to participate in Kentucky's quota mentor-youth dove hunts opens today. Hunters have until 4:30pmET on Aug. 16 to apply for a hunt.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources offers these hunts to allow adults to provide kids with a quality dove hunting experience. Participation is limited to avoid crowding of fields. Adult hunters can take up to two youths under the age of 16.

Dove season opens statewide Sept. 1, 2019.

Lou Vera Wright, 99, Greensburg, KY (1919-2019)

Mrs. Lou Vera Wright of Greensburg, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the Green Hill Rehab & Care Center. She was 99 years old.

The funeral services for Lou Vera Wright will be conducted at 11amCT on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Wilburn Bonta and Bro. Walter Wayne Milby will be officiating.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Tuesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT on Wednesday until time for the funeral service.

LWC 2019 Cross Country schedule released

Lindsey Wilson cross country head coach Nick Wilson announced the 2019 schedule for the Blue Raider men and women's team on Monday.

Six events in total are on the slate for the Blue Raiders this season.

The 2019 campaign kicks off on Sept. 7 in Bowling Green, Ky., with the Mid-South Conference Preview meet. Next up is the Austin Peay Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 21 in Clarksville, Tennessee.

It's currently 65F at the Adair County Mesonet station. Watch out for patchy fog before 7amCT. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 88F. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

Tonight brings a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10pmCT. Otherwise it should be mostly cloudy, with an overnight low around 67F. South wind 3 to 5 mph.

Wednesday will be partly sunny, with a high near 84F and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1pmCT. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph becoming west in the afternoon.

Wednesday night should be mostly clear, with a low around 64F and west wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
