City of Columbia Mayor's Report for July, 2019 City of Columbia Mayor Pam Hoots shares a list of activities from the prior month at each meeting. At last night's August meeting, she provided the following list of projects working and/or completed for the month of July, 2019. Click 'read more' for the Mayor's list. Installation of new lighting at pavilion at city park. Pressure washing at Fairgrounds of all equipment. Painting of fairground playground equipment. Cleaned gutters and washed Trabue Russell House. Cleaned sidewalk TR House. (caught mouse). Cut tree limbs at fairgrounds. Several loads of brush and limbs picked up by street department. Gravel placed around field one at Little League Park. Gravel placed at City Park. Sign repaired and replaced at City Park. New roofing on small pavilion at fairgrounds; as well as restrooms. The City Streets Department has hauled around forty loads of brush. Approximately one half were turned in at city hall; and, the remainder were cutting limbs from right of ways. New flag placed at Jackman School (Rosenwald School). Also, roping replaced. Several (10/more) lights turned in to Kentucky Utilities for repair. Continuing sidewalks pressure washing. Burkesville Street, West Guardian, and working on Fairgrounds Street. Striping completed at Little League Park. Striping completed at city parking lot on Burkesville Street. Decoration committee met: 68 smaller wreathes, 1 large, and 4 with candles. Looking on using wreathes, changing decorations. Striping done at intersection of Hurt Street and Jamestown Street. Rebidding sidewalk project for handicapped. Wall washed on Guardian Street. Street reviewed off of Guardian Street. Truck It Up a tremendous success. Looking at another food truck event later in fall. Back to school event held. Great turnout. Around 400. More nuisance letters written (probably around 20). Downtown investment committee met. Doors being painted on restroom facility at fairgrounds. Sealing and striping tennis courts. Planning on putting in volleyball at city park. This story was posted on 2019-08-06 06:26:13
