Letter: Dead rat means cats in danger of poison

By Joyce M. Coomer

There was a dead rat in our yard this morning. I don't think any of my cats caught the rat as there were no marks on it nor was its fur disturbed in any way.

I am afraid a neighbor has put out rat poison. Since I have ten excellent mousers, now I am going to be constantly worried that one of my cats will catch and eat a mouse (or rat) that been poisoned, and be poisoned in turn and die.

Please, please, please don't put out poison for rodent control when you know your neighbors have cats they love. Put out traps (where the cats can't get into them, of course) and feed and pet the neighbors' cats (and yours also, if you have any) so that they'll catch mice and rats as a "thank you" for being kind to them.

Letter: What happened to the mounting block?

Kenneth Scott writes:
After looking at the first picture of the Russell building there was no mounting block present, on the second picture there is a mounting block. When was the mounting block installed and who installed it. Does any one know what happened to the mounting block, who removed it, and why was it removed? --Kenneth

Kentucky Color: Research Results Released

Do you suspect that all modern cars look increasingly similar? The researchers at GWSU have proven statistically that the only current choice is among shades of grey.

By Billy Joe Fudge

Great Wooded South University's Psychology Department has just completed research into a truly disturbing American phenomenon. Because this phenomenon has just been identified, it does not yet have a name. GWSU commissioned this research in response to the question, "what has happened to identifiable uniqueness in America and the American Automobile Industry?"

This research was conducted on consumer demand for variety in style and color of the automobile because there is so much historical data to draw upon. This historical data goes back to 1909 when Henry Ford was cranking out Model T's on the world's only moving assembly line. The car only cost $240 and was in high demand and supposedly because black paint dried faster than any other color, Henry Ford said, "you can have any color car you want, as long as it is black"! So, the American people accepted what was available to them.
