Letter: Mill was across from Fairplay Store Dave Rosenbaum writes: I didn't see any response to Trilby Vance's question about the building across the road ( 704) from my Dad's store. Perhaps she and I are the only ones left who recall that building. Of course it was a grist mill where folks would bring 'turns" of corn to the mill on Saturday to be ground into meal. As I recall, the mill operator charged ten cents to grind the "turn" or he would take a toll box of corn. The miller would grind the toll corn to sell to those who didn't have corn to bring. I have never determined why it was a "turn". Perhaps Mike Watson can help.Comments re article 104351 Letter Fairplay quiz 2019-06-05 06:26:35 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
