Letter: Recycle bins around city/county should be put back

Eula Goetz writes:
I am concerned that finding a place to dispose of recycling like we used to have at Walmart & other places is not readily available anymore. I believe it is essential to have these bins available in easy access areas.

Plus someone should be responsible to keep them emptied when they are full. Please take this matter into consideration. Thanks. -- Eula Goetz

Thank you for writing. Several folks have sent letters since the bins were removed from Walmart, IGA, etc. Click this link to read the Fiscal Court news release which explained the changes.

Sandhill Crane Tours at Barren River Lake SRP

By Brenna Karcher

Each year, thousands of Sandhill Cranes make Barren River Lake a stop on their journey back home. Barren River Lake State Resort Park will hold a Nature Watch Weekend Jan. 23-27 to get up close to these beautiful cranes as they migrate through the area.

Participants can register for one of two trips. The morning sunrise trip takes guests to the roosting site before sunrise to experience the beauty of the cranes leaving the roost as they journey to nearby cornfields to spend the day. The sunset trip begins by viewing the birds in the cornfields and ends at the roosting site so you may view the magnificence of thousands of cranes circling overhead as they get ready to settle down for the night.

Each of these trips will be lead by naturalists from the Kentucky Department of Parks.

The Courier-Journal interview Senator Wise yesterday about the bill, which will include budgeting for increased security and mental health at Kentucky schools.
