She was born in Clinton County, Kentucky on Friday, November 12, 1943, to Jonathan Edwin and Effie Gleah (Wright) Pickens. In her early youth, she found love in the Lord's word and His work, and enjoyed being outdoors. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Burkesville, Kentucky.

After graduating high school, Patsy married her high school sweetheart, Wilkie Webb Skipworth on October 15, 1961. A few years later, Patsy and Wilkie moved to Michigan and they were blessed with two beautiful children, Stephen and Tracy. She spent her later years doing a bit of traveling, writing lots of poetry, attending church services, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. She settled between her home in Kentucky, and then finally in Michigan, where she was able to see her five grandchildren more often. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her during her lifetime, and ultimately gave her peace.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Peggy and Joyce, and brothers, Bruce, Jack, J.E., Wayne and Charles Franklin Pickens.

She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing, son, Stephen Webb Skipworth of Howell, Michigan, and his children, Amanda and Zachary and their mother, Laura Martin, daughter, Tracy Ann Skipworth Beach (and Joe Fortier) of Howell, Michigan, and her children, Kaitlyn, Kristyn, Karlie, brother, Joe Pickens of Albany, Kentucky, sister-in-law, Norma Piercy of Donnelson, Tennessee, several nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends who celebrate her vivacious spirit that is now at peace with her Creator.
