Anna Smith Norman, 84, Russell County, KY (1933-2018)

She was a factory worker and a member of Clear Fork Baptist Church. She was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was a member of a highly respected family, the daughter of the late Lonzo & Maggie Stephens Smith, and the widow of Harold Norman.

Gifted and Talented paint mural: Growing a Garden of Art

The Gifted and Talented Program applied for an art grant called the VSA Kentucky Arts Inclusion Project that helps fund artists and supplies for projects that teach students about art they have not been exposed to previously. It also works with students with and without disabilities.

This project uses stylized art to paint a mural on the Gifted and Talented Bus Ceiling entitled "Growing a Garden of Art". Some students pictured in the above photos are Maison Karnes, Jacob Fugate, Chistian Marcial-Davis, Mrs. Pat Ritter--Artist, Lucas Powell, Ashton Flatt, and Jalissa Clements. The project was conducted at Adair County Middle School from March 26-March 30, 2018.

Columbia Police investigated an injury collision today, Monday, April 9, 2018, on Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.

The collision occurred when Carlos Grant, age 44, of Columbia was traveling north on Campbellsville Street in a 1993 Ford Ranger.

Former wealth manager for professional athletes sentenced for wire fraud, identity theft, and money laundering

LEXINGTON, KY – Leon A. Smith, a former wealth manager for professional athletes, was sentenced today to 51 months in federal prison for stealing nearly $1.3 million from his clients and misusing their identities.

U.S. District Court Judge Joseph M. Hood sentenced 45-year-old Smith, now of Batesville, Indiana, for wire fraud, identity theft, and money laundering. In addition to the 51-month term of incarceration, Judge Hood ordered Smith to forfeit $1,298,506.82, the approximate gross proceeds of his offense.

29 Year old Columbia man arrested on drug charges

KPNS: Bevin Pension and budget bills do not solve problems

Speaking at a news conference Monday morning, Gov. Matt Bevin said he would veto the pension and budget bills passed last week by the General Assembly.

"Good things are in that pension bill," he said, "but we've not solved the pension problem." He also criticized the budget bill saying it would leave the state vulnerable by spending all of the state's $250 million emergency funding.

STLP state competition top awards go out to CHS students

Campbellsville High School students brought home several top awards at the state Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) competition March 29, 2018 at the University of Kentucky.

CHS seniors Austin Fitzgerald and Christian Berry won second place in the NKU Mobile App Design contest.

Student Technology Leadership Program uses project-based learning principles to empower student learning and achievement through the utilization and creation of technology to solve school and community needs.

If you know Columbia's 30-year nurse practitioner Diane Thiery, then you've probably heard her speak of her "loving, deep hearted husband, Doug."

If you went to ACHS or Lindsey Wilson with one of her children - Fran, Dorina, Douglas, or Adriane, or her stepson Kenny, then you probably heard of their father, their life guide, their rock solid supporter.

That's who they've lost as a result of a car accident followed by a coma from which he never recovered. Their beloved Douglas Arnold Thiery died October 23, 2017.
