Rose Clements Wilham, 76, Casey County, KY (1941-2018)

She was a butcher, formerly employed by Abe's Pic Pac in Liberty, KY. She was a native of Danville, KY, and a resident of Liberty, KY, at the time of her death here. She was a member of a respected family, the daughter of the late Talmadge & Dorothy Haste Clements, and the widow of Robert "Bobby" Wilham. She leaves eight direct living descendants. Her final resting place will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Casey County, KY.

Randy Wheat, RN, shared details from his experience putting together his own home security alarm system at the Feb. 7, 2018 Caregivers lunch meeting. On the subject of personal and home security, he said more attention is needed today primarily because of growing illegal drug addiction in our communities. He said about the time one drug is labeled and contained, another is taking its place. The latest craze that came up in discussion, is grape Gatorade with Benadryl poured into it, and drinking Imodium. - Linda Waggener

Tina Marie Wilkerson Payton, 55, Dunnville, KY (1962-2018)

She was a 1980 graduate of Edgewood High School in Ellettsville, IN, and a resident of Dunnville, KY, Tina was a homemaker who loved camping, fishing, photography, and especially her family. She was a daughter of Leon & Lyril Felton Chambers. Her husband, Danny S. Payton, survives. She leaves 15 direct living descendants.

BOWLING GREEN, KY - (Tue 6 Feb 2018> - A Barren County, Kentucky, convicted felon was sentenced in United States District Court, by District Court Judge Greg N. Stivers, to 100 months in prison for charges associated with the burglary and theft of firearms from Hortons Guns, located in Cave City, Kentucky, announced United States Attorney Russell M. Coleman. There is no parole in the federal system.

"100 months in federal prison is real time," stated United States Attorney Russell M. Coleman. "Theft of firearms from a licensed dealer can trigger a domino effect of violent crime that puts Kentucky families and officers at risk. Pursuing those who would steal firearms is a priority of our office and helps protect our Commonwealth."

Applications for $10k Leopold Award due Apr 15

Frankfort, KY -- Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles issued a reminder to Kentucky farmers that Leopold Conservation Award applications are due by April 15.

Given in honor of renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold, the $10,000 award honors Kentucky farmers and other private landowners who voluntarily demonstrate outstanding stewardship and management of natural resources. The Kentucky Department of Agriculture contributes $2,500 toward the award with money from the Ag Tag Fund, which is funded by voluntary donations from farmers when they buy or renew their farm vehicle license plates.

The 2017 award in Kentucky went to Harry and Karen Pelle of Tallow Creek Farm in Taylor County.

LWC Wrestling faces Cumberlands in MSC championship

The No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestling team travels to No. 4 Cumberlands (Ky.) for a Wednesday night dual at 7pmCT at the O. Wayne Rollins Center, 6178 College Station Drive, Williamsburg, KY 40769.

A Blue Raider (7-2, 5-0 MSC) victory over the Patriots (12-1, 5-0 MSC) guarantees a Mid-South Conference regular season title for Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders have captured at least a share of the title in all of the past six seasons.

The Lindsey Wilson wrestling team defeated Campbellsville (Ky.) by a final score of 24-12 in a Mid-South Conference dual on Thursday night at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders won seven of the 10 matches on the night including the final five to put the dual away against the Tigers.

Power's back on, Liberty Road/KY 206 in Adair County

Electricity came back on around 8amCT on LibertyRoad/KY 206, reports a happy crew at Liberty Road General Store and Diner. The two-hour power outage which made for early morning breakfast challenges had reportedly happened as a result of a transformer going out.

Hot coffee didn't last long after it went dark, but the morning customers finished breakfast by an emergency entrance light with the help of headlights left on by a customer.

Nona Faye Beard, 77, Taylor County, KY (1940-2018)

Faye left a wonderful legacy for her family, being such a godly example as a wonderful Christian wife and mother and enjoyed every moment of raising her children. After retirement she was found busy at her husband's side operating Pompano's Bait Shop at Campbellsville City Lake for 23 years. She was a member of Point Pleasant Lighthouse Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Aaron Alfred & Virgie Mae Able Cox and the widow of Morris "Pompano" Beard, her husband of 56 years. She leaves nine direct and two step living descendants.
