Judy Richards, 66, Columbia, KY (1951-2018)

She was a former nursing assistant at Westlake Regional Hospital and was a homemaker. She was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was a member of a highly regarded family. She was the daughter of the late Howard & Nannie Etta Burton Overstreet, and the widow of Ted Richards. She leaves seven direct living descendants.

Taylor County Grand Jury returns indictments Tue 30 Jan 2018

Indictments brought against 17 individuals from Campbellsville, Greensburg, Edmonton and Louisville, KY on charges including theft, possession, burglary, wanton endagerment, and DUI.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

LWC international students focus on their careers in Japan

Two Lindsey Wilson College exchange students from Japan went on their own to the Boston Career Forum, billed as the World's largest job fair for Japanese-English bilinguals, last semester, according to Sabine Eastham, LWC International Program Director.

Natsuki Watanabe and Yusuke Tsukahara said almost all Japanese students do job hunting in the spring of their junior year of college. At this forum, Japanese students are able to put in their resume while they are still in the US and speed up the process of interviews.

CU opens Tiger Health Clinic, open house is Feb. 8, 2018

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University has partnered with Taylor Regional Hospital Care Center to open the Tiger Health Clinic. There will be an open house at the Tiger Health Clinic at 522 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky., on Campbellsville University's campus Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 from 12noonET to 2pmET

The Tiger Health Clinic will be open to all Campbellsville University students, faculty, coaches and staff, according to Ann E. Dabney, director of public relations and physician recruitment for Taylor Regional Hospital.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 2, 2018) - The Department for Public Health, within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), is reporting 100 flu-related deaths from the flu epidemic in Kentucky. At least four of those deaths have been pediatric cases. This season's H3N2 strain of the flu virus can be extremely serious, even deadly, not just for those in higher risk categories but to generally healthy Kentuckians as well.

ACHS Beta members win 1st Place Awards at State

Ty Cheatham takes 1st in Ag Testing; Maddie Harmon awarded 1st in Language Arts.

The Kentucky Senior State Beta Convention was held this past week, January 28-30, 2018, in Lexington, KY. The ACHS Beta club attended and competed in several different competitions. Ty Cheatham placed 1st in division 1 Agriculture testing and Maddie Harmon placed 1st in division 1 Language Arts. Sponsors are Sheila Willis and Dawn Baker. Good job, Beta!

Green County Grand Jury returns indictments Wed 31 Jan 2018

AC Court meets, hires Terry Williams FT for Road Department

In a special called meeting Thursday, February 1, 2018, the Adair County Fiscal Court heard a report from the Personnel Committee from Magistrate Perry Reeder (District 4) and member of the committee, recommending that the court hire Terry Williams as a full time Road Department Equipment Operator at $14 per hour. On a motion by Reeder, with a second by Magistrate Harold Burton (1), the vote was unanimous to to hire Williams. Joining Reeder & Burton, in the affirmation were Magistrates Daryl Flatt (2), Sammy Baker (3), Billy Dean Coffey (5) and Greg Caldwell (6) and Adair County Judge Executive Michael Lee Stephens. Magistrate Terry Hadley (7), was not present.

Terry Williams had previously worked for the Road Department and is considered a top equipment operator.

After this action, the committee voted to adjourn. Gale Cowan, Fiscal Court Secretary, was the session recorder.

AC solid waste committee commends Hardee's of Columbia

Restaurant is first to install drive-through receptacle for trash. Solid Waste Advisory Committee hopes other restaurants will also lead by example. Installation of the receptacle is currently on a voluntary basis.

The Adair County Solid Waste Advisory commended Hardee's of Columbia, for taking lead to help reduce litter on Adair County Roads by voluntarily installing a drive-through trash receptacle at its restaurant in Holladay Place, at 90 Dohoney Trace, Columbia, KY.

The committee recognized Hardee's in the Solid Waste Advisory meeting, Thursday, February 1, 2018, in the Adair Annex Building.

Senator Max Wise's Legislative Update - Fri 2 Feb 2018

Senator Wise reports on past week of Regular Session of General Assembly . Bills passed include May 1 being designated "School Bus Driver Day," alignment of state labor laws for seasonal workers with Federal ones, a measure to protect victim spouses in divorce cases, "Andy's law," Legislators wear Blue and Orange in honor of Marshall County High.

This week was the busiest yet in Frankfort with a number of bills moving through committees and on to the Senate and House floors for votes. We were also visited by a number of statewide advocacy groups that championed their great causes and rallied in the Capitol Rotunda. Between visiting constituents, committee meetings, and voting on the Senate floor, we continued to discuss the upcoming budget.

BOWLING GREEN, KY - (Thu 1 Feb 2018) – A Hart County, Kentucky, felon was sentenced to serve 70 months in prison followed by three years of Supervised Release, by United States District Judge Greg N. Stivers, in United States District Court yesterday, for unlawful possession of firearms announced United States Attorney Russell M. Coleman. There is no parole in the federal system.

Employment continued to trend up in construction, food services and drinking places, health care, and manufacturing. No. 9 LWC Wrestling beats No. 12 Campbellsville 24-12

COLUMBIA, KY - (Thu 01 Feb 2018) - The Lindsey Wilson wrestling team maintained its perfect conference dual record as the Blue Raiders topped rival Campbellsville (KY) 24-12 on Thursday night at Biggers Sports Center.

Lindsey Wilson (7-2, 5-0 Mid-South Conference) won seven of the 10 matchups on the night, including four of the final five to help put the dual away against the Tigers (7-8, 1-3 MSC).

Pam Shearer: So proud of Preston Wilson's interest in rocks

There's a future in rock collecting. Matt Downen built on a boyhood passion for collecting them and now is working on a PhD in Geology at Kansas University. His mother says the collection he left behind in her basement now totals over 3,000 - last time she counted them.

He's a rock hound -- he's the kid everybody used to see along the road cuts, chipping away for fossils since he was in elementary school.

Capital Plaza Tower Implosion will be March 11, 2018

Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary William M. Landrum III announced on January 30, 2018 that the implosion of the Capital Plaza Tower, 405 Wilkinson Boulevard, Frankfort, will be March 11, 2018 at 12:30pmCT/1:30pmET. CRM/D.W. Wilburn #2 LLC, the development and construction team for the Capital Plaza Complex redevelopment project, has contracted with Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) for the demolition. CDI has more than 60 years of experience and a range of demolition projects around the world. The Finance Cabinet, CRM, and D.W. Wilburn have already had preliminary discussions with the city, local law enforcement and emergency services.
