Adair County Judge Executive Michael Lee Stephens was in Washington, DC, this week representing Adair County at an Intergovermental Affairs (IGA) meeting at the White House.

Judge Stephens also spent some time with Jamie Comer and attended IGA State and Local Day at the White House yesterday, Thursday, December 07, 2017. Judge Stephens' plans are to be back in his office in Columbia, KY on Monday, December 11, 2017, and to preside at the next regular session of Adair Fiscal Court, at 6pmCT, Tuesday, December 12, 2017, in the basement of the Adair County Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY.

Roger E. Ford, Taylor County, KY (1961-2017

Roger moved to Toledo in July of 1996 and worked for his uncle driving trucks. In June of 2000, he began working for Cavins Trucking Company in Perrysburg, Ohio. His passion was driving. He was a very dependable driver with no safety violations throughout his career. However, his greatest passion was his trust in God as his Savior. He was a member of the Swanton Baptist Church. He was a native of Campbellsville, KY, and a graduate of Campbellsville High School.

It was Sue Stivers' Day today, Friday, December 8, 2017. As she retires from her position as Executive Director of the Columbia Adair County Chamber of Commerce she was honored for her tireless community contributions throughout the years since 2002.

Chamber president Ellen Zornes said, "The event celebrates all she has done to help make Columbia and Adair County 'A Great Place to Call Home'."

"She’s not only helped local businesses thrive as the Executive Director of the Adair County Chamber of Commerce, but is involved in one of the main components of life in the area, Lindsey Wilson College," said Congressman Comer.

Judge Jeffrey Lawless is 2017 Judge Heaton Award recipient

The award is for judicial leadership, friendship, and contributions to judiciary and commonwealth. Judge Lawless is district judge in Pulaski and Rockcastle Counties. Judge Lawless has strong local connections. He is the son of Adair Countians Joan Cole Lawless Loy and the late Gene Lawless.

FRANKFORT, KY -(Fri 7 Dec 2017) - District Court Judge Jeffrey Scott Lawless, who serves Pulaski and Rockcastle counties, was recently named the 2017 recipient of the Judge Robert W. Heaton Award for his judicial leadership, his contributions to the judiciary and the commonwealth, and his enduring friendships with fellow judges. The Kentucky District Judges Association presented the award to Judge Lawless at the Kentucky District Judges College in September.

"It was my honor to present Judge Lawless with the Heaton award," said Jefferson District Court Judge David P. Bowles, who is chairman of the KDJA's Judge Robert W. Heaton Award Committee. "He is easily accessible to judges across the commonwealth and prompt in responding to ethics inquiries as a member of the Judicial Ethics Committee. His smile and personality are infectious."

She was a homemaker and of the Christian Faith. She loved nature, especially plants and birds. Her husband, Mitch Bragg, Columbia, KY, survives. Her final resting place will be in New Liberty Cemetery in Metcalfe County, KY. She will be greatly missed.

Green County Grand Jury returns indictments Wed 6 Dec 2017

Indictments brought against 3 individuals from Greensburg, KY on charges including possession, cultivation of marijuana, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Ruby Faye Cave Scheele, 90, Taylor County, KY/Adair native (1927-2017)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany, Indiana, where she resided for many years and attended the South Campbellsville Baptist Church after moving to Campbellsville. She was a former employee for General Electric. She was a native of Cane Valley, KY, a member of an old line north Adair County, KY, family. She leaves four direct living descendants. Her final resting place is in Adair County.

Brian Gordon Baldwin, 63, Taylor County, KY (1954-2017)

She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Campbellsville, KY. She was retired from Walmart in Campbellsville, KY, where she was head of the fabric department. She was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of Metcalfe County, KY, at the time of her death in Cumberland County, KY. She was a member of a respected South Central, KY family. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Allen & Lou Ella Keen Stephen and the widow of William Allen Bowen. She leaves two direct living descendants and many close kin in Adair, Metcalfe, and elsewhere. Her final resting place will be in Taylor County, KY.
