Melewi wants directions, more information about Hurt House

Comments re photo 76192 Hurt House as it looked at one time from Mike Watson Melewi writes:
Is this house still standing today and does it look like this? We need a map to accompany articles like this one so I can get a feel of where this all took place since I am from Off. Maury E Lewis - melewi
Thanks. And sorry about the omission The property is accessed by a private lane two locations south of Dreamland Motel, 510 Burkesville Street. Would think the number would be 514 or 516 Burkesville Street. The private lane to the house is between the yellow Cravens-now- Rogers Home and a small concrete block building which once served as the Ralph Hurt & Bobby Hutchison Law office. The Hurt Foust Woods can be seen along the back yards of homes on W Frazier Avenue.

Cynthia A. Meyer - Why Confederate stones pointed at top

Cynthia A Meyer writes:
Reading Michael Watson's article brought back to mind the conversation I had with a Civil War Reenactor several years ago about the tombstones and grave markers that I had been finding. Although I had found several Union headstones in the area, but only a few Confederate were found.

The reenactor asked me if I knew why the Confederate headstones were pointed at the top, admittedly I did not have any idea. He informed me they made the Confederate tombstones pointed at the top "so the Yankees could not sit, and rest on them". - Cynthia A Meyer
