Adair County poem and other readings Thursday at LWC By Venus Popplewell Jesse Donaldson, author of On Homesickness: A Plea, will give a public reading of excerpts from his book, including a poem about Adair County, on Thursday, October 26 at Lindsey Wilson College. The event is from 3:30pm to 4:30pmCT, and will take place in the Clark Reading Room of the Katie Murrell Library, 210 Lindsey Wilson St, Columbia, KY. The event is sponsored by Orpheus, the literary journal of Lindsey Wilson College. Donaldson was born in Kentucky and now lives in Oregon. His book, On Homesickness: A Plea (from WVU Press), is described as 'part memoir, part meditation on nostalgia, part catalog of Kentucky history and myth.' Dr. Thomas C. Morrison, 96, Cumberland County, KY native (1921-2017) He was the son of the late Thomas C. Morrison, Sr. and Clara Williams Morrison. His wife of more than 76 years, Betty Walker Morrison, daughter of the late Dave and Pearl Walker of Adair County, survives. He was the head of a large, highly distinguished family. He leaves 11 direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Columbia, Adair County, KY. Dr. Morrison spent his entire career in higher education. He taught at the University of Kentucky and University of Connecticut before going to Morehead State University, Morehead, KY, as head of the Department of Economics. He retired in 1986. He was a long-time member of the Palm Harbor United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United State Army Air Corp who served 41 months during World War II as an Aircraft Dispatcher stationed at Great Bend, KS.
