Dr. Thomas C. Morrison, 96, Cumberland County, KY native (1921-2017)

He was the son of the late Thomas C. Morrison, Sr. and Clara Williams Morrison. His wife of more than 76 years, Betty Walker Morrison, daughter of the late Dave and Pearl Walker of Adair County, survives. He was the head of a large, highly distinguished family. He leaves 11 direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Columbia, Adair County, KY. Dr. Morrison spent his entire career in higher education. He taught at the University of Kentucky and University of Connecticut before going to Morehead State University, Morehead, KY, as head of the Department of Economics. He retired in 1986. He was a long-time member of the Palm Harbor United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United State Army Air Corp who served 41 months during World War II as an Aircraft Dispatcher stationed at Great Bend, KS.

Dr. Thomas C. Morrison, 96, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at his home.

Funeral service, with Rev. William Davenport officiating. will be Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 10:30amCT, Thursday.



Dr. Thomas C. Morrison, 96, Cumberland Co., KY native (1921-2017)

He was born September 20, 1921, in Cumberland County, KY. He was the son of the late Thomas C. Morrison, Sr. and Clara Williams Morrison. He died Friday, October 20, 2017, at his home in Palm Harbor, FL, at the age of years, one month.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Virginia Wayman, Ruth Morrison, Wanetta Jones, Lyla Baker and a beloved son-in-law, Dennis Hann.

Dr. Morrison spent his entire career in higher education. He taught at the University of KY and University of Connecticut before going to Morehead State University, Morehead, KY, as head of the Department of Economics. He retired in 1986. He was a long-time member of the Palm Harbor United Methodist Church.

He was a veteran of the United State Army Air Corp who served 41 months during World War II as an Aircraft Dispatcher stationed at Great Bend, KS.

Survivors include:

  • His wife of more than 76 years, Betty Walker Morrison of Palm Harbor, FL

  • Two daughters: Dr. Jeanne Morrison Hann of Tempe, AZ; and Paula Morrison (Alton) Frasier of Macon, GA

  • Three grandchildren: Chris (Jenny) Nolan of San Tan Valley, AZ; Dr. Margaret Frasier (Dr. Steve Dornbos) of Shorewood, WI; Katherine (Dan) Oros of Chesterfield, VA

  • Six great-grandchildren: Ryan Nolan, Alexis Nolan, Grant Oros, Blake Oros, Zeke Dornbos, Gino Dornbos

  • Two brothers: Aaron Morrison and Hayden Morrison

  • Two sisters: Geneva Morrison and Vicki Ryan

  • Many nieces, nephews and friends
