Single vehicle crash takes life of 52-yr-old in Cumberland Co., KY

Driver airlifted to UK Hospital. Passenger pronounced dead a the scene. Investigation is ongoing. KSP assisted at the scene by Cumberland County Fire Department and Cumberland County Sheriff's Department

BURKESVILLE, KY- (Sat 14 Oct 2017) – Trooper Ricky Cross is investigating a collision that occurred on Friday, 10/13/2017 at approximately 9:05pmCT, on KY 1880 in Cumberland County.

44-year-old Paul R. Rose, of Albany, was operating a northbound 2007 Toyota pickup when she crossed the roadway, struck an embankment, went airborne and struck a tree.

Bloomington Chapel Squarecrow #8 wins People's Choice Award

Names of raffle winners released. Judging by secret panel for Squarecrow winners not yet announced.

Members of the Adair County Retired Teachers have tallied the votes for People's Choice Winner for 2017, and the voters chose entry #8, from Bloomington Chapel Church as the top entry this year.

The votes were tallied by ACRT members Jane Branham, Rita Campbell, and Betty Shirley after 6pmCT tonight.

Audrey Edith Barnes Smith, Campbellsville, KY, (1924-2017)

While living in the Shiloh community she assisted in Vacation Bible School at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church for several years and enjoyed going to church. She professed faith in Christ and recently attended East Campbellsville Church of God. Outside of farm work and her enjoyment of stripping tobacco Audrey had a skill for making various Ceramic items and operated her own shop. Her love of ceramic was obvious by the dozens of pieces in her home. Audrey was a former employee of a Defense Plant in Cincinnati and inspected Piston Rings and Parachutes. She was native of Taylor County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late William Barnes & Mattie Harmon Barnes, and the widow of Elwood Lee Smith. She leaves 14 direct living descendants.

Gary Lynn Shearer, Sr., 57, Liberty, KY (1960-2017)

He enjoyed fishing and coloring. Gary loved his family more than anything else. He was the son of the late James Elmer and Sarah Frances Westmoreland Shearer. His wife, Martha Gail Johnson Shearer, survives. He leaves three direct living descendants.

LWC Men's and Women's Swimming defeat King, fall to Mars Hill

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team took on a pair of NCAA Division II institutions on Friday evening, defeating King (Tenn.) 139-80, but falling to host Mars Hill (N.C.) 165-91.

The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team also defeating King (Tenn.) 157-63, but fell to Mars Hill (N.C.) 149-100.

No. 2 LWC Volleyball cruises to 3-0 sweep of Life

Marietta, GA - Makenzie Montano provided a double-double to help lead No. 2 Lindsey Wilson volleyball to a 3-0 win tonight over host Life (Ga.) at the Eagles' Nest.

Montano posted a match-high 38 assists to go along with 11 digs in the 25-14, 25-17, 25-12 win. It is her sixth double-double of the season and second in the last three matches.

Lindsey Wilson improves to 21-0 on the season and 10-0 in the Mid-South Conference with the win. Life falls to 16-8 overall and 4-4 in the MSC. The win is the second this season against the Running Eagles. The Blue Raiders also swept Life on Sept. 30 in Columbia.

He was a graduate of Russell County High School and a steadfast Christian. He was born and raised in Russell County, KY. Mr. Lawless was an active member of the Russell Springs Christian Church, a US Marine Corp veteran and will be accorded military honors at committal rites in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery. he was retired from the drapery business and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing aand all things that involved a love of the outdoors. He was the son of the late Benjamin & Lyda Myrl Hammond Lawless. His loving wife of 54 years, Ruby Hood Lawless, survives. He leaves 11 direct living descendants.
