Gary Lynn Shearer, Sr., 57, Liberty, KY (1960-2017)

He enjoyed fishing and coloring. Gary loved his family more than anything else. He was the son of the late James Elmer and Sarah Frances Westmoreland Shearer. His wife, Martha Gail Johnson Shearer, survives. He leaves three direct living descendants.

Gary Lynn Shearer, Sr., of Liberty, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 57.

The funeral service will be held at 1pmCT/2pmET on Monday, October 16, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Ron Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Peyton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4pmCT/5pmET to 7pmCT/8pmET on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.



Gary Lynn Shearer, Sr., 57, Liberty, KY (1960-2017)


Born on September 22, 1960, he was a son of the late James Elmer and Sarah Francis Westmoreland Shearer. He died Friday, October 13, 2017, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 57 years, 21 days.

He enjoyed fishing and coloring. Gary loved his family more than anything else.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Gail Johnson Shearer, whom he wed on February 23, 1984, and the following:
  • A son: Gary Lynn (and Anna) Shearer, Jr. of Liberty, KY

  • A sister: JoAnn (and Benny) Walls of Louisville, KY

  • Three brothers: James A Shearer of Louisville, KY; David (and Louise) Shearer of Louisville, KY; and Billy Shearer of Russell Springs, KY

  • And two grandchildren: Allison Faith Shearer of Science Hill, KY; and Hayden of Liberty, KY
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his grandmother, Mae Shearer; a sister, Alice Irvin; and two brothers, Roger Dale Shearer and Thomas Shearer.

Pallbearers will be Jay Lynn, Cody Carmichael, Bradley Lynn, Clyde Brooks, Steve Martin and Shawn Salyers. Honorary pallbearers will be Hayden, Allison, Krace Butler, William Johnson, Susie Lynn, Renee Durham and Donna Edwards.
