Writer sides with Ben Arnold on climate change

Jon Halsey writes:
Thank you, Dr. Arnold. However, it seems to be that "Global Warming" has caused quite a bit of heat increase. At least in the rhetoric which is definitely way overheated. I must admit, I have a high amount of esteem for those few scientists who attempt to present verified data and are willing to "take the heat" for going against those who are wont to rely on man made models whose forecasts have yet to approximate any resemblance to subsequent reality. - Jon Halsey

Writing and sharing memories makes a difference

Thanks for the memory of the ride in the airship!

By Linda Waggener

Just a note to say thanks to all who shared photos and comments about a recent unusual visitor -- a passing blimp, small airship, that surprised several skywatchers who happened to grab a quick photo and share. Several saw it, documented it and others tracked down what it was doing here. In addition to wondering what the suspicious character was doing in our airspace, I wanted to know what it was like to be inside it.

Next earlier column: Carol Perkins: Wistful thoughts on birthday

A voice inside me yelled, DON'T SHUT THE DOOR, but it was too late. Between the outside door and the bookcase in the den were my car keys. On that same key ring was also the house key. Guy had just said, "Are your keys in the car?" I thought they were. I was confident they were, but when the door slammed, I wasn't sure. "Guy, don't shuttttt....." but it was too late.

Dr. Arnold challenges Pope's position on climate change skeptics

Says large rises in sea level near Miami is 'more due to draining aquifers under the City and the land sinking as a result, not global warming.'
Commentary in response to: Link: BBC report on the Pope and Climate Change Sceptics

By Dr. Ben Arnold
Personal commentary of the writer

I should not challenge the Pope but then who will when he condemns those of us he calls skeptics who ask scientific questions. The recent US hurricanes are the first major ones in about 12 years. Maybe we should assume global warming caused this lull? No, I don't think so but if you want to attribute the recent storms to global warming then how do we account for that 12-year lull?
