She was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Porter & Anna Williams Gaskin, and the widow of Avon Cooper. She leave 13 living descendants, spanning four generations. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem United Baptist Church.

Lutha Cooper, 90, of Russell Springs, KY, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at her home.

Funeral service for Lutha Cooper will be 1pmCT, Friday September 15, 2017 at the Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Larold Gosser officiating. Visitation will be after 10:30amCT, Friday. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers: Brad Cooper, Brian Hutchason, Jamison Cooper Faye Cook, Samuel Gosser, Craig Jasper,and Ronnie Bernard.

She was born March 25, 1927 in Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Porter & Anna Williams Gaskin. She died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 90 years, five months, and 18 days.

Lutha was a homemaker and a member of Salem United Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Avon Cooper, and two brothers, James Anderson Gaskin and Donald William Gaskin.

Survivors include the following:
  • Three children: Patricia (John) Hutchason, Louisville, KY; Michael (Hettie) Cooper, Dallas, TX; and Johnny B. (Lila) Cooper, Russell Springs, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Bradley & Melissa Cooper, Brian Hutchason, Mailee Cooper, and Chase Cooper

  • Three great grandchildren: Jamison & Kennedy Cooper, Brooklyn Hutchason

  • Two great great grandchildren: Raylon Cooper, and Jayce Cooper

  • Two sisters: Daisy Dean Ballenger, Leitchfield, KY; and Norma Jean Grider, Indianapolis, IN
