COLUMBIA, KY - (11 Apr 2017) - A group of Lindsey Wilson College business students recently earned statewide recognition for their work.

Members of the Lindsey Wilson chapter of Phi Beta Lambda business fraternity won several honors at the Kentucky Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference, held April 7-8 at Madisonville Community College. The competition included more than 150 students from Kentucky colleges and universities.

Eunice Dobson Milby Lee, Green Co., KY (1937-2017)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Lowell Avenue Baptist Church, Campbellsville, KY. She was retired from Fruit of the Loom. She was the daughter of the late Woodson Dobson & Lucy Lee Akin Dobson, and the widow of first Elmer Leo Milby and later, Bill Lee. She leaves 21 direct living descendants.

Emma Jean Cochran, Casey County, KY (1936-2017)

She was a former cook for the Casey Co. Board of Education, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Richard & Verdie Taylor Montgomery and the widow of first Wilbur Cochran, and then J.B. Hamilton. She leaves 23 direct and two step living descendants.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pmCT/2pmET, Friday April 14, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY Hwy 49, Liberty, KY. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Thursday April 13, 2017 and after 7amCT/8amET, on Friday April 14, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born December 21, 1936, in Hustonville, KY. She was the daughter of the late Richard & Verdie Taylor Montgomery. She died April 10, 2017, in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 80 years, three months, and 20 days.

Emma Jean was a former cook for the Casey Co. Board of Education, Kentucky Colonel and a member of Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church.

Survivors include:
  • Two daughters: Connie Cochran and Stacie Cochran, both of Liberty, KY

  • Three sons: Philip and (Tammy) Cochran of Liberty, KY; Harold and (Polly) Cochran of Liberty, KY; and Steven Cochran of Liberty, KY

  • Nine grandchildren: Jolene Blevins, Michael Cochran, Maggie Cochran, Andrea Nelson, Olivia Vaught, Robbie Beebe, Hannah Cochran, Rachel Hines and Leah Cochran

  • Two step grandchildren: Sarah Souders and Evan Souders

  • Nine great grandchildren

  • A special friend: Melissa Hicks
Preceding her in death besides her parents was her first spouse: Wilbur Cochran; and second spouse J.B. Hamilton; five Brothers: Roscoe, Oatley, Omer, Vernon and Hubert Montgomery, and two sisters, Chelsie Thompson and Eula Montgomery.

He was a well known horse trainer. His wife, April Houser Burton of Columbia, KY, survives. He leaves five direct living descendants and many relatives in the Adair and Russell Counties, KY, area.

KY General fund and road fund receipts for March 2017

General Fund receipts decreased 11.4 percent, Road Fund receipts increased 3.2 percent

Frankfort, KY - The Office of State Budget Director reported today that March's General Fund receipts fell 11.4 percent compared to March of last year, a decrease of $99.2 million. Total revenues for the month were $770.9 million, compared to $870.1 million during March 2016. Receipts have now grown 1.2 percent for the first nine months of FY17. For the quarter, total General Fund collections declined 3.2 percent, thus marking the first quarterly decline since the second quarter of FY14. Growth rates for the three quarters of FY17 have been 3.4, 3.3 and -3.2 percent.

The official revenue estimate calls for 2.7 percent revenue growth for the fiscal year. To meet the estimate, receipts must grow 6.6 percent over the last three months of FY17.

LWC Football ranked No. 8 in NAIA Spring Coaches' Top 25 Poll

Mr. Kenneth Lynn Milby, Green Co., KY (1937-2017)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a lifelong member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. He was a carpenter by trade, retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. as a machine mechanic, and a lifelong farmer from the heart. His wife of 57 years, Inflice Finn Milby, survives. He leaves 20 direct living descendants.

The funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Lynn Milby will be conducted at 11amCT, , Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY,m with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old U.S. 68, Campbellsville, KY, with Bro. Dennis Penick and Bro. Larry Rowell officiating. Visitation is requested from 3pmCT until 8pmCT, , Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after Wednesday until time of the funeral service.

Mr. Lyle Walker Cloyd, 64, Florence, KY (d. 9 Apr 2017)

He was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of Boone County, KY, at the time of his death. His final resting place will be in Burkesville, KY. His wife, Patricia Rush Cloyd, survives. He leaves one direct and four step living descendants.

Burial will be in the Burkesville Cemetery in Burkesville, KY. The family will receive friends after 4pmCT, on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
