Campbellsville Middle School eighth-graders Abi Wiedewitsch and John Orberson have been chosen to attend the Rogers Explorers program this summer.

The Rogers Explorers program is an intensive three-day, two-night program focused on cultivating skills in leadership, technology, math, science and community service. It is developed, coordinated and supervised by The Center for Rural Development.

Wiedewitsch and Orberson will attend the program on June 26-28, 2017, at the University of Pikeville.

They two applied for the program to learn about leadership, meet new people and have fun.

Wiedewitsch and Orberson also hope to attend Rogers Explorers to become more involved in their community and to try something new.

The two say they believe attending Rogers Explorers will be a great experience, and something great to add to their college applications.

About 500 students applied to attend the program.

Wiedewitsch is the daughter of Mark and Beth Wiedewitsch. Mrs. Wiedewitsch is the guidance counselor at CMS.

Orberson is the son of Johnny and Sonya Orberson. Mrs. Orberson is the guidance counselor at Campbellsville Elementary School.

Lauryn Agathen and Aleah Knifley, now freshmen at CHS, attended the program last year.
