The funeral services for Mrs. Mistey Ann Jackson will be conducted at 1pmCT, Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY with burial to follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Visitation is requested from 2pm until 8pmCT, Monday, March 13, 2017, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Tuesday until time of the funeral service.

We have received the sad word of the passing of Alesha Bryant Morrison 45 of Milltown, KY, who died suddenly at 4pmCT, Saturday, March 11, 2017, from injuries received in an automobile accident on KY 61, Greensburg Road, North of Columbia, KY She is survived by her husband James Morrison and four children, and her parents Purd & Louvenia Bryant of Milltown, KY. James Donald (Don) Hale, 83, Russell Co., KY (1933-2017)

He was a former co-owner of Aaron Oil Company and was a member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church. He was a member of one of Russell County's leading families. He was the son of the late James Lesllie and Laura Lee McDonald Hale. His wife, Charlene Hale, survives. He leaves seven direct living descendants in Russell & Adair Counties, including sons Charles Hale of Russell Springs, KY and Anthony Hale of Columbia, KY.

FRANKFORT, KY (Fri 10 Mar 2017) - Governor Matt Bevin and First Lady Glenna Bevin launched the "Open Hearts/Open Homes" initiative today at the "Summit to Save Our Children" event they hosted in Frankfort. The initiative is part of the Governor's pledge to improve the state's adoption and foster care system by mobilizing a network of nonprofits, faith-based organizations and loving families.

COLUMBIA, KY (9 Mar 2017) - During the month of February 2017, there were 15 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

There were no fatal collisions during the month of February in the Post 15 area.

I am a descendant of the Watson Family of Adair, William Watson (1803-1905), son of Rev. Joel Watson is my line of ppl. Rev. Joel and his father Rev. John Watson were Cumberland Presbyterian ministers at Mt. Carmel Church in Columbia, I believe. I do not know if Mike Watson is my family or not, but would love to know.

KY State General Fund shows big increase in Feb 2017

General Fund receipts increased 5.9 percent; Road Fund receipts decreased 0.3 percent - but they are up for the year

News from Commonwealth News Center FRANKFORT, KY (Fri 10 Mar 2017) - The Office of State Budget Director reported today that February's General Fund receipts rose 5.9 percent compared to February of last year, an increase of $39.4 million. Total revenues for the month were $709.0 million, compared to $669.6 million during February 2016. Receipts have now grown 2.8 percent for the first eight months of FY17.
