Maury Lewis: Advice for the Parks & Rec board

Maury Lewis writes:
When they do the black top at the Jim Blair Community Center PLEASE do the walking track. That is my favorite place to walk. it is not just flat it has different grades and if you need to stop they have plenty of benches to sit down on. My favorite thing though is that you only have to go around 2 times to make a mile. I can do three miles with no problems walking and running. melewi working it off slowly but surely. - Maury Lewis

The vehicles cost $37,252. each, with special police equipment and markings. They were purchased off the state contract and did not have to be bid. Sheriff Moss is in his sixth year in office, and these are the first new vehicles the department has had. The cars have special interceptor equipment, which means that insurance is good on the vehicles even in high speed chases. Campbellsville Elementary construction continues on schedule

The $9.7 million CES project is contracted to be completed by Monday, January 16, but officials say they hope to be finished before that date.

Campbellsville Independent Schools

Construction at Campbellsville Elementary School is continuing to move forward, with workers concentrating heavily on building the new entrance to the building and a new cafeteria.

Officials say construction is on schedule and could be complete by mid-December.

The CES project is contracted to be completed by Monday, January 16, but officials say they hope to be finished before that date.

New restrooms were recently completed at the school and opened, and work has begun on the new bell tower in the front of the school.

Ground was broken for the project in a special ceremony in March, and contractors began working on the construction full time after the 2015-2016 school year ended.

The project is estimated at being completed in 10 months. Interruption to instruction is being kept at a minimum.

Renovations planned at CES include the addition of four new classrooms, a new HVAC unit, a fire suppression system, interior finishes, new kitchen and cafeteria, new restrooms, renovation of existing classrooms, a new playground for preschool students and work to administrative suites, parking areas and the front facade.

Once renovations are complete at CES, and then later at CMS, all fourth- and fifth-grade students will be housed at CES, making it a more traditional elementary school, and the CMS building will better suit the needs of a middle school.

The CES project will cost about $9.7 million.

N3D Group is the architect for the project, and Codell Construction is construction manager.

For more information about the project, and photos of designs, visit www.cville.kyschools.us and click "CES Renovations" on the right side of the page.
