Query: Writer seeks information on early settlers, Breeding, KY Samuel Bownas writes: I am trying to get in contact with Judy Allen who posted a message some time ago on Ancestry.com about having old photos available of some of the early settlers of Adair Co. My great-grandparents were early settlers in Adair Co. and lived there for many generations. Some of my ancestors who lived there were: Thomas K. Turk, III; his son Thomas Johnson Turk, his son William Marion Turk; Benjamin Franklin Carter, Sr; his daughter Parthenia L. Carter (aka "Ann"). She first married Thomas Johnson Turk and, secondly, Rev. George Breeding of Breeding, Adair Co. Also, William M. Turk, married Sarah Sally Blair, daughter of Rev. John Marshall Blair of Adair Co. Most of these people moved from Adair Co., KY to Madison Co., IA around 1860 due to the slavery issue. -Samuel Bownas 2016-06-03 03:59:31 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local History
