Jon Halsey: A letter to Ralph & Glinda on their retirement

Comments re article 83611 South Central Printing Inc is no longer

By Jon Halsey

I am so thankful that y'all are able to walk, arm and arm, peacefully toward the sunset.

Reading between the lines over the past few years, I wasn't sure that was how the scenario was going to play out.

Thanks for all of the thought provoking "opinions" over the years and I look forward to your continued thoughts as well as your admonishments to the other scribbler in the family.

ASL interpreter responds to Jim Harris letter

Federal laws mandates services for hearing impaired, such as Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART), if it is requested
Comments re article 83602 Jim Harris thanks for signing ASL at ACHS graduation By Anna Beard

Mr. Harris, your thoughtfulness means a great deal to me and I appreciate you recognizing the importance of providing accommodations to those who require it. I had family attending the ceremony and graduating, so I provided my ASL interpreting services pro-bono to the school. I also graduated from ACHS in 2010, EKU in 2014, and I recently earned National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.

Query: Writer seeks information on early settlers, Breeding, KY

Samuel Bownas writes:
I am trying to get in contact with Judy Allen who posted a message some time ago on Ancestry.com about having old photos available of some of the early settlers of Adair Co. My great-grandparents were early settlers in Adair Co. and lived there for many generations. Some of my ancestors who lived there were: Thomas K. Turk, III; his son Thomas Johnson Turk, his son William Marion Turk; Benjamin Franklin Carter, Sr; his daughter Parthenia L. Carter (aka "Ann"). She first married Thomas Johnson Turk and, secondly, Rev. George Breeding of Breeding, Adair Co. Also, William M. Turk, married Sarah Sally Blair, daughter of Rev. John Marshall Blair of Adair Co. Most of these people moved from Adair Co., KY to Madison Co., IA around 1860 due to the slavery issue. -Samuel Bownas

Gov. Bevin at Cumberland Falls: Refreshing the Nation's Finest

GRANNY NANNIE wonders:
. . . why there isn't a support group collecting signatures for a drug-free Adair County? Improper use of drugs, legal or otherwise, is more dangerous than smoking, if nothing else because of elevated crime rates associated with improper drug usage. Granny Nannie
