LWC moves up to 2nd in Learfield Directors' Cup standings

Only 1.25 points separate Lindsey Wilson College 799.75 from the top place, held by Olivet Nazarene, 801 points, in the spring rankings

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson athletics jumped one spot to second in the first spring rankings of the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics officials announced on Thursday.

Lindsey Wilson boasts 799.75 points with baseball and softball remaining. The Blue Raiders trail only Olivet Nazarene (IL), who leads the standings with 801 points.



Lindsey Wilson has scored 270.25 points through six spring sports - the second most in the NAIA.

The Blue Raider women's tennis team posted 90 points for its second-place finish at the national championship. Men's tennis ended in third to garner 83 points.

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's track & field teams also scored points at the national championships last month. The men received 65.25 points for their 11th-place finish while the women picked up 32 points for a 40th-place finish.

Wayland Baptist (Texas) is third in the standings with 775 points while Oklahoma City is fourth with 677 points.

The other eight Mid-South Conference institutions are also mentioned in the rankings.

Cumberlands (KY) is 16th with 461 points, Campbellsville (KY) is 18th with 447 points, Georgetown (KY) is 67th with 187 points, Life (GA) is 70th with 179 points, Shawnee State (Ohio) is 75th with 167 points, Cumberland (TN) is 84th with 153.5 points, Pikeville (KY) is 103rd with 108 points and St. Catharine (KY) is 157th place with 43 points.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports in the NAIA - six women's and six men's.

The final standings will be released Tuesday, June 14, 2016.
