Click on headline for complete story By Venus Popplewell COLUMBIA, KY - In response to the announcement about the closing of Saint Catharine College, Lindsey Wilson College is coordinating special support services to assist the affected students. All students who were enrolled at Saint Catharine College are eligible to apply to transfer to LWC, according to LWC Director of Admissions Charity Ferguson. Ferguson also said that financial aid is available for 2016 fall classes, which begin on August 17. "We are prepared to work with Saint Catharine students to complete their education and earn their degrees with as little disruption as possible," Ferguson said. "Lindsey Wilson works with hundreds of transfer students a year, and we understand the process." Saint Catharine College students may apply to transfer to any LWC academic program: the 29 bachelor's degrees offered at the liberal arts college's A.P. White Campus in Columbia and the bachelor's degree in human services & counseling offered at 26 community campuses in five states. LWC also offers several online programs. Students may earn bachelor's degrees 100 percent online in business administration, criminal justice, human services and counseling, nursing (RN to BSN), sustainability and energy applications, and user experience design. The online master's degrees available are business administration (MBA), education (teacher as leader), and interactive design. There is no fee to apply for admission at LWC, Ferguson said. "This is a sad day for all the institutions within the Kentucky private college system," said LWC President William T. Luckey Jr. "Our focus at Lindsey Wilson will be the displaced students; therefore we are coordinating special support services to ease the transition for students affected by the closing of Saint Catharine College." "Lindsey Wilson has been working with students for more than 110 years, and for the last three decades, Lindsey Wilson has excelled in serving the educational needs of transfer students. In addition to our residential campus in Southcentral Kentucky, we work with students at 26 community campuses in five states plus online classes." Officials from Lindsey Wilson's academic affairs, admissions, financial aid and registrar's offices are ready to assist transfer students during their transition. Please contact the LWC Office of Admissions at info@lindsey.edu or 270-384-8100.
