Lives changed during Campbellsville University Spring Break

By Josh Christian, student news writer

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Spring break provides rest for students and faculty in the midst of a busy semester. Yet, for many spring breakers at Campbellsville University, it also provides the opportunity to serve on the mission field. From March 11 to March 20, three teams left Campbellsville, Ky. to go to different parts of the country, and the world.

“A group of 13, consisting of CU football coaches, football players, administrators, and other friends, left on March 10 for a week-long trip tominister in four Florida state prisons through softball and at the Orlando Rescue Mission Homeless facility for men in downtown Orlando,” Jim Hardy, assistant athletic director, said.

Walk Adair!!! - Writer finds activity tracker helps her get in steps

She earned her activity tracker - she uses a Fitbit - through insurance wellness tracker and finds it a great way to get in minimum 10,000 steps a day. She arrives at work 20-30 minutes early each morning with a goal of having 3,000 steps in before 8am. Fitness trackers work for her. But she's not dogmatic about everyone having one, though she's a staunch advocate of walking. She says, do what's right for you. 'If a tracking device is not for you, measure in minutes. 30 minutes of walking 5 days a week has tremendous health benefits.'
This is how she does it. You may have another way which is better for you. You are invited to share. There are thousands of different ways to achieve the goal.

Poetry by Joyce Coomer: Eulogy for the vegetation

Skeletons line the highway
Skeletons line the roadway
Bereft of color
Bereft of flesh
Bereft of life

I cannot fathom
A state of mind
That condones
And praises
Wanton destruction
Of God's gifts . . .

If you know, send the explanation or a correct answer using the "Contact Form" with this article or any Contact/Submit button. Remembering Mary Pelly: She was a dedicated poll worker

Victoria Pike writes:
Miss Mary will certainly be missed. As a lot of you will remember, she was a dedicated poll worker for many years. She last worked the polls during our last countywide election in 2014. We will remember her many years of service as we meet Thursday for election school for poll workers. I know she will be watching over us. She always loved being a part of the democratic process. Thank you Miss Mary for always being there on Election Day to do your part for so many years. - Victoria Pike
