FRANKFORT, KY. (7 Apr 2016) - Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Department of Criminal Investigations today announced Cary W. Pembleton, 55, of Taylor County, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for possessing 270,000 child porn images.

James V. (Jimmy) Beams, 82, Green Co., KY (1933-2016)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Aetna Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from Kentucky Trailers. Was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army. He was also a member of the American Legion Hodgenville Post, and the V.F.W. James L. Pruitt Post #5813. His wife of 61 years, Barbara White Beams, survives. She leaves 15 direct living descendants.

CJE and Mayor proclaim Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Child Abuse Prevention Month has been observed each April since its first presidential proclamation in 1983.

In accordance with this Adair County officials have proclaimed this month to raise awareness that all children deserve to grow up in a happy, healthy environment. This urges all citizens, community agencies, faith groups, medical facilities, and businesses to increase their participation in our efforts to support families, thereby preventing child abuse and strengthening our community.

Leonard C. Smith, 76, Russell Co., KY (1939-2016)

He was a heavy equipment operator. He was the son of the late Clarence E. & Gusta Jewell Sullivan Smith and the widower of Dessie Lou Smith. He leaves seven siblings, residents of Russell and Adair Counties, KY, and Indiana.

Early Voting with Excuse begins in KY's 17 May 2016 primary

FRANKFORT, KY (April 6, 2016) - Eligible voters may begin casting mail-in absentee ballots in Kentucky's May 17, 2016, Primary Election, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced today.

"I encourage all registered voters who are eligible and need to vote by mail to request an application now so their ballot can be submitted in plenty of time before the May Primary," said Grimes, Kentucky's chief election official.
