Ben Arnold: We must defend our voting rights

The Attorney's Bill: "Anyone who would have looked at this election with an open mind would surely have concluded it was grossly flawed! Further, and maybe even more disconcerting, KY Elections laws were violated . . . " - BEN ARNOLD.

By Ben Arnold
Personal Commentary

The County Board of Elections (CBE) led by the County Clerk and legally directed by our County Attorney (CA) collectively run elections.

The County Judge Executive and the County Court do not control this group nor have direct responsibility for their actions.

I understand the taxpayers who don't want to pay the legal bill.

Wayne Armitage: On making the victims pay

Ben Arnold is not only victim here, writer says
Letter is personal opinion of the writer

Wayne Armitage writes:
WOW.

Even for Adair County this is an all time low. The election was corrupted. Now that the officials are caught, they want the person who brought it to their attention to pay for it.

I personally think that every elected official should be recalled and a new election be held. City and county.

Ben Arnold is not the only victim here. All of Adair County is a victim. I think that the powers that be should pay the bill. Like we had the hospital tax thrown down our throats - so should the bill be paid for by the citizens? --Wayne Armitage

Marsha Walker: County Attorney explained situation well

Marsha Walker writes:
This is from the KY Board of Elections website:
The Secretary of State serves as Chair of the State Board of Elections, an independent agency that administers the Commonwealth's election laws, promulgates administrative regulations necessary to properly carry out its duties, supervises the registration and purgation of voters, appoints political party representatives to the 120 county boards of elections and certifies the official election results.
I don't find anything about cities' involvement in elections. I believe our county attorney explained that very well. - Marsha Walker

Writer wants good ol' boy way to go

By James Rowell
Personal commentary and opinion of the writer

The votes are counted in the city. And it was for the Mayor's race and that's not the county. It's the city. So why does the county have to pay for the city? What was done (was wrong)! So why make all the county pay for a (wrong) that was done in the city! We were not the one's who did this. It lies with the B.O.E.
